This was the method which they used to boost numbers in the department of human services (centreline), in order to effect the 'claw back' budget measure or robot debt debacle. What is odd is why would it be necessary to provide a government department which is not serving as many people as Centrelink, with additional staff who are hired to meet KPIs and not make quality decisions based on reasoned policy and law?
Also, I'm one of the people hired by a private contractor to work for Centrelink. The amount of dodgy cunts they have recently hired is pretty scary.

I am aware that the majority of IT work for government departments and services gets done now to incompetent companies in the private sector and eventually outsourced. So you have a lot of government information and digital infrastructure just floating around offshore, poorly managed. Barely any cyber security either. All different CMS’s, Operatibg Systems, programming languages. It will be impossible to ever consolidate all of this digital infrastructure.
A decade or so ago most government IT work was done internally with Australian workers done to a relatively decent standard and consistency.
Now it’s shocking the amount of work that’s been chucked off to randoms that just send it off to India.
