West Germany after ww2; protectorate satellite of USA (still today), all of German history was deleted and shamed, army had/has no soul or marches, they had/have American and British uniforms, today Arabs, Turks and Blacks are only living in Western Part and there are thousands of Mosques
East Germany meanwhile; largely independent but still had ties to Russia which encouraged them celebrate their great history and not be ashamed of it, largely anti-semtic, all uniforms were made to look like the Nazi ones but with Eastern German insignia, every year a top notch Prussian style parade, today they are part of Germany where there are no immigrants or Mosques and the part that votes in majority for right wing parties.
If Russians are so bad then explain Germany

It was simply due to the state narratives. All the fascists had supposedly fled west. Hence the wall to keep the fascists out. East German idea of history was that not the Germans were the bad guy but the fascists. Since there were officially no fascists in East Germany, nobody had any guilt and was a good guy.
