I'm still waiting for ANY ACTUAL EVIDENCE to be presented by Mueller of a crime. During the Campaign, Trump could have literally walked up to Putin and said "I'll pay you $1,000,000" for dirt on Hillary" and then paid Putin for it and it would NOT have broken any laws.
Had Trump said to Putin "I'll pay you $1,000,000 to campaign against Hillary expressly", then that would be illegal.
I have seen no such evidence presented.

The entire idea that doing business with Russians after the fall of the USSR is a bad thing is a current year manifestation.
H.W. and Bill pushed the idea of liberalisation of Russia through capitalism to bring them into the fold of the NeoLiberal world order.

Admitting Trumps wrong doing would undermine their entire belief system. As long as Trump is still wearing his team colours there is no way these drones will ever admit he's wrong, because that means they'll have to admit that they were wrong. It will destroy any reputation and "credibillity" that the GOP still has. The only thing the cons have over the dems is that they are united under the same few issues, if they become fractured they are a dead party. In other words, It's never gonna happen. The goal posts will keep moving and damage control is already in full swing.

GOP has little to do with Trumps brand of populism.
GOP is just as fractured as Dems on issues. Both camps think the other is a united front.
You read the Guardian and think you understand even basics about US politics, but you don't. Nearly every election comes down to a reactionary vote of people afraid on one side, and people disheartened about voting because they lost faith or got their way last cycle.

Trump's policies on Russia has been the most aggressive since Ike, even Obama wouldn't dare send arms to Ukraine.
Trump's mix of populist rhetoric and intentional thread cutting from the NeoLiberal order has worked as a pressure relief valve in the US, the UK is having a much harder time going isolationist via Brexit. France is burning because they stepped on the NeoLiberal gas pedal instead of starting to move away. Trump is running his policy with very little damage to broader American society Vs other world leaders.
