If you look up 'inert gas asphyxiation' on Wikipedia, you'll read that pure nitrogen can also be used, it should be easy to source, as it finds use in welding. Thus, you can probably walk into a store that sells welding supplies and get a bottle of nitrogen.

Pure nitrogen allows your body to get rid of CO2, meaning you don't feel like you're choking, and won't re-supply it with oxygen, meaning you still die.

There are tanks in sizes you can carry with you, it will still be a bit heavy, but you're desperate so you'll just have to bear the weight (30-40 pounds) for a bit.

If the store you go to only offers a tank filling service, you must first get an empty tank from somewhere, these are easy to find online, however. Make sure it's a nitrogen tank, as stores are very careful about putting high pressure gases in tanks.
