I dropped out after freshman year in college. Learned everything I need to about computer science and programming on my own through search engines and documentation. After dropping out, I got an internship which turned into a full-time job
I have friends I made in freshman year that are still in college. Meanwhile I've already paid off my college debt and have a couple years of professional experience

Ok- let us apply this to my major. I am studying Construction Managment. If you think I can just apply for an internship at some company and say "yeah I taught myself online: I can be a site manager" you're fucked. They would put me on a tractor... I need a degree to skip the first steps of the ladder. Sure I could start from the bottom, but why? I am more than capable of finishing my degree and furthermore finding a position beyond moving dirt.
