For those of you who don't know what's going on, this is a treaty backed by the united nations that has the aim of considering "migration" (legal or illegal) as a human right. By this treaty, there won't be any substantial distinction between economic migrants and people seeking refuge for humanitarian reasons, like the ones escaping war, for instance. Its aim is to legitimize economic migration as if it were a legitimate and legal cause for anyone leaving a poor country in order to enter a rich one. It will be signed today in a Moroccan city called Marrakech. The countries that are going to sign it will make it virtually illegal to oppose immigration within its borders in the long run, once it will be considered a human right.
The united nations expects that some 230 million people will migrate from poor countries into "richer" ones in the near future.
That's more than the entire population of massive countries like Russia and Brazil, and more than half of the population of the United States.
Over 150 countries are expected to sign the treaty.
It's meant to be framework for each country to individually pass binding laws, is it not? This is the first step to passing this kind of legislation, so I find it funny that you consider it nothing to be afraid of.
