Speed limits only exist as an extra form of tax. Roads without speed limits are not "dangerous", in fact, there are much less accidents and fatalities on the Autobahn than on American highways. If the government really cared about safety or rules they would make it harder to get a driver's license and repair our shitty roads instead of harassing people for small things such as speeding or seatbelts. But they want to keep the roads shit and the drivers stupid so they can continue to take our money and give it to the welfare state.
Just try driving on a day when cops and politicians are trying to get the money they need for the month, you'll be pulled over for something petty while the cops ignore someone actually breaking the law. All these petty laws exist simply so politicians can tax you whenever they need the money. Maybe you'd think differently if the government decided to start fining people for "hate speech". Laws are not always right.

US highways are built over a wider variety of climates and geographies.
The construction equipment varies from place to place, as does the size and design of the highways, so full and comprehensive repair could not be done to the same quality level, or as quickly as that done on the Autobahn.
Firthermore, the US highway system has way more miles of highway than Germany, with less policing, and cehicles in a wider range of ages and conditions of repair.

I know this, but most importantly Germans are actually taught to drive a car. In America you only need the mental capacity of a 5 year old to pass the driver's test as smart drivers do not make the government any money.
And while American climates can be rough on roads that only means that we should put more of our tax dollars into them instead of welfare programs and aid to foreigners.
