I had just read it shortly before 9/11 happened. For a few moments n the morning of 9/11 I was wondering if it was coming true.

Also, like says, it isn't supposed to be a masterpiece, it's supposed to be a diary of a guy who isn't a writer. But the scenes of violence and gore in it are a bit shocking and gross.
