I had the idea of a progressive minimum wage system where the minimum wage an employer must pay is tied to the size of the company. The bigger the company, the higher the minimum wage. The idea came about to solve how people complaining about huge companies like amazon or walmart make obscene profits, while their workers are screwed, but at the same time aiming to avoid stiffiling small businesses with oppressive laws. The bonus of such a system would be dimishing returns on a company expanding, in turn allowing multiple companies to exist in a given environment, which will drive competition and all the boons that come with it. Thoughts?

You know how they get around this?
They make everyone a subcontractor. This happens enough right now. Large companies and the US government contract out most of the operations to another subsidiary, they in turn can further divide the company into smaller entities to avoid this or simply require you be a 1099 subcontractor. Subcontracting laws are horrible loopholes that help ruin employment in huge swaths of US industry. I never hear anyone address it, either. The entire construction industry gets fucked this way.

The best solution is no minimum wage and no immigrants.

It’s not wages that are a problem. Minimum wage has doubled in most areas, however what has now happened to cost of living ?
Government needs to issue more bonds , and put more people to work fixing our roads etc. local and federal.
The federal government shouldn’t be fixing wages .

>giving employees even more incentives to work for global corporations over locally-owned small businesses will make our economy even better!

how about fuck yourself and your socialist bullshit gibs.

How about making it dynamic so min wage covers an adult’s minimum caloric intake, cost of utilities and rent? Actually providing for human needs rather than making it an arbitrary dollar amount

Maybe the best solution is to stop using amazon.com

or how about a universal income

You are a young self anointed faggot

yeah this shit exploded after Obongocare passed and almost every chickenshit retail job in the country made everyone part time and the companies that service the retailers all divided themselves into a bunch of pieces

I mean, I literally work in the construction industry and make way more money as a subcontractor than employee. Subcontractors in the construction industry work for multiple contractors, and use of subs allows contractors to scale up and down as necessary. No reason to staff a fucking electrician when you may need them twice.

Also, am the guy that sells and runs the jobs. I literally get half the profit the company makes because I do half the work. I pay a reasonable overhead for office/advertising/work comp/GL for each job on a fixed percentage basis.

This is a bad idea. You have wasted your time by posting it but the good news is you didn't waste any time in thought about it.

I have an idea, that you are dumb

And when you get hurt on the job? Or when work slows down? When a contractor simply won’t pay?
If you’re a sub you know that most all of them feast or famine. And when you retire, if you do, you’re fucked if you didn’t make hundreds of thousands.

This. The simplest solutions are often the best. If leftists wanted to help people in the 3rd world, they'd leave them there and put trade sanctions on countries with abusive labor practices. Greed will give the foreign leaders incentive to clean up their act if they want to trade with large economic powers, so they'll get their countries in order on their own.

>"I had the idea"

no you didn't faggot, this talking point has been around for years.

yeah this shit has been going on forever and obamacare is/was just the most recent convenient excuse

Punishing business successful business for growing sounds like a terrible idea

I pay for insurance. Also, I am covered under my employers work comp. and GL. I am a valuable asset that the people In work for would not want to fuck, as I sell millions of dollars in shit a year. Besides, my sales skills also give me excellent scumbag recognition skills. Don't work for shit bags and you never have to worry about getting paid. Don't do shit work and you also won't have to worry about getting paid. I do Insurance restoration work and haven't had a slow year in a decade. And as far as making hundreds of thousands of dollars, I actually make that every year (this is my best year ever at close to 400k).

That would be a problem, not sure how to solve that
That would also be nice. Immigrants undermine a workers ability to bargain
I also wish we could update infrastructure no argument here
Yeah user thatll happen everyone will magically stop using amazon
I truly did come up with it myself as far as I know, but maybe the seed was planted by an outsider source.
Under this system of course everyone would want to work for the huge company and get a fat check, but thats already the case. Everyone always wants the most bang for their labor. Also to everyone being an ass, no need to be a dick when I ask for criticism, its not constructive
Only punishing them once they are huge. Monopolies and psuedo monopolies like ISPs are a bad thing, user

>Only punishing them once they are huge
define huge, retard

>The bigger the company, the higher the minimum wage.
bezos breaks amazon in million small cooperative companies,
>muh $50/hr min wage

fpbp strikes again

>The entire construction industry gets fucked this way.
service industry too

>however what has now happened to cost of living ?
Well it sure didn't double because the whole economy isn't built only on min wage workers.

Not sure this isnt a bill on the floor of congress, I just wanted to have a productive conversation about a political policy on a board that is increasingly just shitposts.
Wouldnt that be a good thing? Is not one of the roles of government trust busting or whatever its called? To prevent and destroy monopolies, the great Satan of capitalism?

daily reminder that minimum wage is a scam to increase inflation so (((banks))) can continue to give out shitty loans

How about we just house and feed poor people instead of having them go through the predatory ordeal of buying food and paying rent? We can even house them wherever they work so they don't commute that far.

Good luck with the logistics of servings tens of millions of adults with everchanging basic needs and requirements with a practice like that

>Wouldnt that be a good thing?
what is uber driver?

Let me guess, you thought about it while watching the most recent South Park?
I did the same.

Ya he definitely is.
But he'll learn. He's got promise.

Explain

>blah blah blah
Fuckin commies..

Attached: 1544243130119.png (531x563, 300K)

deflation causes people to default on loans
inflation encourages them to take them out

Daily reminder that you're so retarded you think inflation comes from minimum wage earners and not the spending of the US federal govt

>Thoughts?
You are an idiot.
Your idea would lead to mass unemployment as no-one will hire anyone beyond a certain amount.

inflation comes from consumer spending
when it stops you get deflation

I would love that. Working at Amazon making $15/hr is great...in Alabama. Here near Portland, Oregon, $15/hr doesn't do shit. They were paying us blue badges (permanent employees) $13.50/hr (compared to $12.50/hr for seasonal "white badge" employees), so I was happy to get the raise. But we only get 4-hour shifts and a max of 6 per week, so it isn't a lot of money. Cost of living here in the Portland metro area is retarded high, unless you want to live among the niggers and spics, but even then, $800+/mo for a shitty apartment is too much. I wish they paid us more.

Sorry I’m a tard when it comes to economics; how would deflation cause people to default on loans? Wouldn’t the prices of things just go down and that would result in more spending power?

Free boat rides for commies

because if you have 2k a month mortgage payment and your the nominal value of your wages go up it is easier to pay it back than if they go down

>I wish they paid us more.
And the cost of living increases as everyone has more money to leverage to by a limited amount of goods.

Attached: Something a communist can never understand.gif (302x223, 7K)

Because people would be asshurt when they got a pay decrease.

No I gave up watching south park in 2016 when they stopped having regular episodes and started being pure current events.
But the need would still be there, so other people could start a company. Arent small businesses a good thing? Is getting fucked by megacorps pleasurable for you?
Inflation is caused by printing money you absolute knob. You still have the same amount of goods and services, now spread out over more bills, meaning each dollar has less value

you can print all the money you want if people dont spend it prices will go down

the new code word for this is "The Gig Economy", everyone is an independent contractor these days. Look at what Uber and Lyft are doing to fuck people who can't run a spreadsheet and see that they lose money overall on doing these jobs. Almost no one driving people around for a living is making jack shit if they factor in their real costs for owning a vehicle (insurance, maintenance, fuel) as well as personal health insurance and other costs.

>personal health insurance
most people dont need health insurace

there is no reforming capitalism, the us is either going to go full fash or have a socialist revolution that turns fascist in the next few decades

I like it. A lot.

So don't let them do that. If it's discovered that a company is running she'll companies to break their company into smaller ones, fine the shit out of them, even have them face jail time for trying to break the system. Do away with the loopholes and punish those who fuck up the system by finding new ones.

...until you do. Most serious, bankruptcy-inducing shit they will only cover if it comes up WHILE you have that actual policy.

>doesn't define huge
>doesn't realize amazon, wal-mart, and comcast would write the bill should it ever exist

>So don't let them do that
That's something we don't even fucking do NOW.

Tge top wage earners compensation cannot be more than 1000x the bottom wage earners would be fair. Watch how they scramble to get around this be breaking uo every company into subcontractors and collecting a profit from many heads.

Why do people think they are such special little snowflakes that the world will cease to function if they die?

Minimum wage here is already going up to $15/hour, they need to keep ahead of it or people aren't going to want to do the job.
>break back at Amazon or some other physical job for $15
>flip burgers for $15
Really hard decision.

Those wages arent terrible. Youll most likely find a better job soon.

Gee, Brett, why are ANY of us important to keep around? Why does the "world" "need" to "function" at all? What's the fucking point of, like, anything?

Thats also true, but thats caused by supply demand principles, but the fed printing money is the ultimate culprit for why the dollar has lost 97% of its purchasing power. We arent using 97% less goods and services.
I think its a fair principle, perhaps some fascist aspect of it; youre free to open a company and be successful and make a lot of money, but as you become super successful like bezos, you have to reward your employees. As the pie gets bigger, you have to share a bigger slice. Youre still making more money, so the incentive is still there to succeed.

As liquidity is restricted malinvestment will get called on causing defaults and lost nominal value. It can also affect employment and productivity for compamies who need to borrow to do work.

I've worked there for just over a year now, so I'm ready for something else. They have some nice benefits like training for other work like IT and some other stuff, but I won't be eligible for that until July.

>daring to oppose free market retards
they won't do anything that makes sense or follow regulations
you are suggesting both
ha ha

Attached: 3294923.jpg (745x960, 109K)

>Not realizing that you would drain the talent pool for newer businesses, thus stifling innovation, and competition in one swoop.

There's no way to fix it, but with a nasty progressive income tax on large corporations. Good luck getting that passed in the GOAT country.

Attached: 1392793630479.jpg (960x720, 178K)

I pick labor over fast food any day. But I'm also in really great shape. Must suck to be weak like you

A note for the thread: the government already does this, I think. Dont companis over 50 employees have to offer health insurance or something like that? And dont we also do a progressive tax system? The precedent is there.0
>criticises my lack of defining huge
>miraculously somehow knows exactly what I meant
I already addressed that this is an idea not a bill going into law. No need to be so quick to be a dick

How about we just farm dysgenic human livestock?

for 1000s of years we didnt need a minimum wage
why do we need one now

I've been debating getting a secondary citizenship to deal with this. My friend had shitty Polack citizenship and flew to Poland to deal with cancer. Ended up paying like 1/100th of what he would have paid here.

>Fire unskilled workers
>Replace them with cheaper robotic labor

All raising the minimum wage does is bring the day of the glorious robot revolution closer.

This doesnt drain labor any more than the current system. People will always want to work where they get the most pay. Wages across IT are not going to be the same at microsoft or apple or amazon, for example. Hire pay is already an incentive to work for one company, this wouldnt eliminate that negotiating chip

My logic would be to just force businesses to pay for welfare costs for their employees. Work at Walmart and need food stamps? Why am I footing the bill? It will get to the point where the cost of paying the employee fairly will beat letting the government determine a societal cost.

Mexico is similar. There's a couple of places right over the border that are used to Mericans "vacationing" there to get shit done. Some of the shit I need is like less than 10% of the cost as here, and the ones I've seen all look very professional.

Perhaps because our economies are a little more complicated than stone age peasants? And technological innovations combined with massive powerful governments give sufficiently large corporations the power to screw over the average man in newer and more creative ways?

Its not Walmarts fault the their retarded employees have kids they cant afford and the government gives them money

>power to screw over the average man
the average man does not make minimum wage

Zero 1...

>>miraculously somehow knows exactly what I meant
if you can't define which should be subject to this idea and to what extent, you're just shitposting.
if you don't realize that once you try to define who and how, the most powerful will just file new paperwork, you're an idiot.

IM SURE THAT KIKE BEZOS WILL BE ALL OVER THIS..WHEN HE HITS A TRILLION DOLLARS IN HIS SAVINGS ACCOUNT.

They also changed full time from 40 to 36 hrs to skirt it.
I don't actually mind girls with tattoos sometimes, but this chick is like something out of hellraiser.

There is that...but then there was that article from like 2 weeks ago about the thot going into a coma and dying from a botched nosejob. Eastern Europe is shitty, but I think it's a little better than Mexico. I'm guessing it's the EU money that helps with the quality.

I agree personal responsibility is totally absent in allocating food stamps, but I would rather a corporation deal with it at least to a threshold or to just the individual level rather than the familial. It would encourage people who spit out 4 kids to at least work and contribute something to the economy (no matter how little) rather than sit at home like a leech.

Youre quite right, but the average man does use the internet, wouldnt you agree? And implementing such a system would give smaller companies an advantage over larger ones, perhaps even to the point where taking on the oligopys like comcast and verizon is possible. But in any sector it will encourage more numerous companies, leading to competition, leading to cheaper and better goods and services.

Youre being snarky for no reason. I dont need to define how many gallons a lake versus a pond is when i tell you im going fishing at the lake this weekend. The point if this thread was to debate the merits of such an idea, not to work out the nitty gritty

You're that one commie faggot always posting about Amazon and your commie faggotry aren't you

>The bigger the company, the higher the minimum wage.
so you understand that you'll be promoting and subsidizing AI & robots development, right?
Stop fucking with other people's companies. A big company means serving a big crowd.
So you would be forcing Mcdonalds at gunpoint to pay $100/hr

Attached: socialism too good.png (501x501, 212K)

Well plastic surgeons being hacks is pretty universal. You don't go to 3rd world countries for any kind of cosmetic shit. Their ACTUAL doctors, the ones in those border towns, know their shit well enough.

"competition" begets planned obsolescence, outsourced labor, synthetic foodstuffs, etc.

Cap individual net worth at $50 Million this would create a true trickle down economy. Sure they could employee family and friends, but it would at least spread wealth to others.

i'm posing legit and quite simple problems with you're stunning and brave idea and you can't handle it. you shouldn't even be posting tbchwy

Okay, now you’re larping/lying. You’ve went from you are the main contractor to “my employer.” You don’t have one, remember? You didn’t make 400k doing restoration and absolutely NO ONE in construction goes “a decade” without a break in work. No one.
Why lie about things?

Already have electronic food ordering stations at my local fast food restaurants. Much higher probability of getting my order right. Of course, if you're a dumbfuck you still go to the cashier because you can't read or manage a touch pad, so the NPC cashiers will always be there for the NPC customers.

No, I'm not a communist. I thought of the few thing lolbertarians agreed upon was smashing monpolies, or has that changed?
Right then, lets have just one grocery store, and one internet provider, and one electric company, and one car manufacturer, I'm sure that will lead to a wonderfully functioning society with bargain prices.
I am not opposed to free market principles, in fact Im really trying to help them flourish by disincentivizing monopolies! Libertarians are supposed to believe in the free market, in letting companies compete to create a wealthier society. What do you do when you find these bloated behemoths that are so large they make the rules, not the consumer. Look at youtube for heaven's sake, banning people nilly willy. Its not like youll be very successful competing with something like youtube. Nor can I just up and start an internet provider should verizon decide to ban Jow Forums. The market is great but come on people its not a religion Im not a heretic for trying to optimize it, worthy of only the fiery stake

Then you make the subcontractor and tip system illegal.

Why is the current government so afraid of busting these monopolies? Like what the fuck happened between Teddy and now?

you clearly have a very limited understanding of politics. why did you decide to start a thread?

I have outright stated I do not have an answer, as I havent thought that microscopically about it yet. For my musings, arbitrary categories like "small" "medium" and "large" were sufficient but if I have to be specific and make something right this instant, how about no minimum wage for under 10 employees, and then categories of 10-49, 49-100, 100-500, 500-1000, 1000+? Does it really matter what the specific bins are when Im focusing on an overarching policy? When progressive income tax systems were first brought up do you think there was no argument about the different income ranges?
Because I had an idea, thought it a decent one, and wanted to run to my internet friends to see what they thought. Whats the problem making a political policy proposal post on a shitposting political board? Did I distract you from all the BLACKED threads or something?

>But the need would still be there, so other people could start a company.

Why don't these people just start a company instead of working for a corp now? If that option is even avaliable for most people, why does unemployment even exist to begin with?
You haven't even thought a single thing through.

>they need to keep ahead of it or people aren't going to want to do the job
This is the pressure that needs to exist and the actual driving force behind wage increases, artificially increasing minimum wage does nothing except increase inflation for necessities; food, housing, power etc

>Does it really matter what the specific bins are when Im focusing on an overarching policy?
yes you fucking faggot.
>progressive income tax systems
are gamed by everyone in the top bracket without exception
>Because I had an idea, thought it a decent one
an idea that has been around since before the advent of wages

They dont start a company because competing with a well established, name brand is difficult. The well established company has the resources to crush you into the ground, and now you're in debt and there still isnt competition. Are you aware of what a monopoly is, and how it can mantain its status as that? The idea is to give small businesses a competitive advantage

>]
no.
