my dad used to tell me a story about when he was a merchant seaman and they were transporting huge logs of wood from africa to portugal. anyways he would be checking over the logs to make sure they were secure every few hours due to rough seas and the journey went well. they got a 3 day pass from the ship to visit the local area while it was being offloaded but on the 2nd day he collapsed with a high fever. he woke up a few hours later in hospital, but not in a bed. he was butt naked and covered in this thick stinky cream from head to tippy toe laying on a lot of sheets of paper. so he's like "wtf?" and a doctor he can see through a window in an opposite room says just stand still please and be calm. next thing my dad says he felt really super itchy and then noticed these little black spots appearing in the cream. first a few then quickly 10 then 30 then what he said it looked like there were 100 of these black spots and.. they had legs. they were wriggling and moving and he stood there in shock as all these bugs came out of his skin into the stinky cream and then onto the paper. after about 20mins it stopped and staff came in with a robe and told him to shower. he spent 3 days in hospital on a drip recovering and felt like shit the entire time. on his discharge he asked them what it had happened and what were the bugs but the nurses and doctors just dodged the question and he never did find out what those things were. he was always super series when telling this story and it never changed and i thought it was some x-files shit since i was a kid.

When this first started happening, the media confirmed some of these children were diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which is one of the rare side effects from the flu virus/flu shot. Now that it's starting to happen with even more frequency, they're using the term "Polio-like" and calling it "mysterious".
