Main issue is that meditation focuses on teaching on avoiding the world, world is inherently anxious, the anxiety and dread of the world can only be solved through trascendence, god, eternal life, the supreme reality, justice, etc.

When you meditate about consciousness, you are accepting a nihilistic view of the world where everytime you go off from meditation you suffer anxiety, you may try to meditate everytime you feel anxiety instead of just realizing that the soul is tested on reality
