How often do you clean up your place ?
How often do you clean up your place ?
At least once a week.
Since I'm a shut in NEET, I take time every week to vaccuum my floor since I stay in this room all day. I also don't keep trash or dishes in here because I don't want bugs. Dusting is a bit of a hassle and I wish I did it more but some days there's a noticeable layer of dust on my stuff.
Actual cleaning everything or just certain areas?
Everything. If you keep up with it on a regular basis it makes cleaning go by really quick cause there isn't much to do. The same goes for my car. I used to have OCD pretty bad but I've got in check mostly but it drives me up the wall if things aren't the way I want them and that means clean and organized.
Everyday. All the time. People are messy and no one else picks up after themselves. I hate having my house dirty
Not sure how you do that every week..
I have a really stressful career that keeps me up at night.
Sometimes I don't clean for a month except doing the dishes..
If I don't do it I'll just get stressed out more than I already could be. At least it's something in my life I have a bit more control over.
Bit what if you're so stressed out that you can't even clean up the place.
I'm going to wash the bathroom and kitchen floor next week..
Have lived here for two years
Thanks
I need to keep that in mind
I never even washed my bath tub.
How do you even wash a fucking tub
What? Are you saying you haven't moped in 2 years? I mop every week. You sound lazy. Or if your honestly to busy to then someone else in your family should or you should get a maid. That's filthy to not clean your house.
Are you actually asking
Hmm
I don't own a mop or bucket
So next week I gotta go get a mob and bucket from the store.
I just sweeped the bathroom floor a few hours ago.
I don't really think about cleaning often
I do certain things every day, like vacuuming and wiping the counters. Bathrooms every week and kitchen full clean once a week. Bedding gets washed weekly and floors washed weekly
You vaccum everyday??
WTF
>what if you're so stressed out that you can't even clean up the place.
That doesn't happen. Cleaning and organizing things is really soothing for me. I just put a podcast on and go to town. There was a time at work when my supervisor left the warehouse in a mess over two years of not giving a shit and when I took over I spent two straight weeks cleaning and organizing, and it was great. This is probably pretty atypical though but like I said I legit used to have bad OCD.
Yes, I have kids and pets. Sometimes twice a day
Any tips on keeping a clean house?
You don't need a bucket. You get a mop that rings out, get it wet in an empty clean sink by just running the foset over it. Squirter a little dish soap on it once it's wet then ring out most the water. Mop whole floor, repeat, then repeat without soap twice so you dry and get all soap residue up. You should clean more, it's calming. Studies show that cleaning and being in a clean environment reduces stress.
If you don't even have a mop you can go old school and just use a sponge. My mom used to make me clean the tile flooring that way.
I have a system so it doesn't get overwhelming. Like I said every day light clean up, for me that's picking up things, toys, etc wiping counters and vacuum. Then i add one task each day, One day is bedding laundry day, one for washing floors, one for bathrooms, one for kitchen. By doing it this way it never gets out of control and takes very little time. Plus I'm not stuck spending a whole day doing it all
Sponge?
I don't have a sponge...
Get a Swiffer wet jet
Use a rag. These are really nice though if you wanna spring for one I'm a bit older and my parents were obviously older too so we did a lot of things the "old fashioned" way.
You're older and you're on Jow Forums?
What do you get out of this place?
Older relative to most of the people here but not that old, jeez. I'm in my 30's. There's plenty of us here though. Honestly, just been here a long time. There's a few worthwhile discussions to be had every once in awhile.
Bump
When I still had my own place I used to clean it every Saturday. If I felt lazy I cleaned half of the apartment one week, and other half next week.
Not often. My wife keeps our place clean. I work and provide money. I've got it down to three days a week and we make a good living. She handles the house most of the time.
I live with slobs. Lease is up in december sadly. I clean daily. My headspace gets all cluttered if I'm looking at a mess
As the great Quentin Crisp wrote,
Never dust. After five years it doesn't get any worse.
Small cleaning every day, all house once a week, deep cleaning one room per week.
Daily I'll do:
>make the bed
>dishes
>wipe down counters in the kitchen and bathroom
>vacuum kitchen floor for crumbs and such
>clean bathroom and bedroom floor with one of those static mops for hair and such
Takes me maybe 5 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night
Weelky I clean up all the house quickly:
>vacuum and mop all floors
>change sheets and towels
>clean bathroom and kitchen
>dust
>laundry
>ironing
Takes me 2-3 hours
Every week I also clean in depth one of the rooms: for example if it is the kitchen I clean all cabinets inside and out, the fridge, etc. If it is the bedroom I move all the furniture and vacuum under the bed, etc. I have 4 rooms in my house so everything gets done once a month.
Once every week. It's a struggle considering I work 8-6 and have classes 7-10:30 but I feel bad if it's messy.
Nothing like coming home to a clean house that smells nice after a long day.
There are lots of ways. You can take some scrubnbubbles, spray it, let it sit for 10 minuts, then come back with a rag and wipe it down.
You can also put a stopper in it and fill it with a few cups of bleach and some water.
For really bad lime and rust build up, you can use something like lime away.
rarely?
I'm probably not like anyone else in this thread so far. Clutter and mess doesn't bother me one bit. I think clearly regardless of the environment and never become overwhelmed by a lack of cleanliness and clutter.
I can clean though, and I can sort. Probably better than anyone in this thread. I can take a room owned by a hoarder and sort out everything worth reselling and keeping out of the trash with no stress or problem.
Growing up I had two very different parents. My mother was a literal nazi about cleaning. She wanted us to clean the kitchen, living room and bathrooms daily or get whipped with a belt.
My dad on the other hand would go to auctions and buy antiques. They would be stacked and sorted into a warehouse pretty tightly.
I blame the beating for being so apathetic to regular cleaning. I realized that around 11 that wiping the dust off a counter every other day with pledge was not worth any amount of unhappiness.
I do have a question for the super cleaners in this thread?
Why are you stupid? Why are you neurotic? Why do you obsess?
Your illness causes you to waste so much money and to hurt others in need. I've seen so many of your types put good things in the trash just because a mess sends you over the deep end. I'm not even saying you have to take the time to resell stuff, even though you should because you could put the money towards a vacation. But why do you put bags of good clothes in the trash when you could donate them to the good will?
And why do you throw away perfectly good food? Welp the ketchup packs have been on the counter for 1 night, put them in the trash. Starving children in Africa and you're trashing food with a shelf life of 10 years.
>tfw born to be a housewife
>not good looking enough that any man rich enough would ever consider me
>get in STEM instead
Your post makes no sense
>Keep a clean house or apt/condo/bedroom isn't OCD or an illness
>I'm starting to realize a clean house = clean mind and you can focus better
>My place will usually be a mess and I barely clean anything but the dishes or laundry
I am probably the one in this thread who said she cleans most.
I like cleaning, it makes me feel good to do it and I enjoy living in a clean place.
I don't throw away a lot of stuff, I think. I buy what I need every day.
I gift clothes I don't use, and throw away just broken or stained things. I sell things that have some economic value (over 30$) or gift it.
I don't throw away food unless it has mold in it, and it happens maybe 5 times a year. I hate food waste.
I don't se myself as "neurotic". I actually think that cleaning is one of the things that helps me feel better with myself, think better and be more productive.
My room
>once a week, usually Sunday evening so that I start my week with a clean room
Bathroom
>every day. put some bowl bleach in that bitch and it'll look brand new
Kitchen
>every day because it's a fucking kitchen
Living room
>once every other week. I barely hang out in there so it doesn't need much cleaning in the first place
Are you married and the house wife type?
Clean? Clean what?
There's no point cleaning things if they're just going to get dirty again, so I just leave everything. Usually when the dishes start molding, I just throw them out and get new ones.
>>tfw born to be a housewife
>>not good looking enough that any man rich enough would ever consider me

are you not fat and have a big nose? I might be down. Make 80k a year? Or is that too little?

I would argue that if you let the order of the physical objects around you impact your mental state, that yes, you have a mental illness.
>Usually when the dishes start molding, I just throw them out and get new ones.
user, I'm the guy that called over cleaning a mental illiness, and even I can't even.
Wash your dishes, nigger.
No, would like to be.
I actually work in STEM, but am going to take start my second master next year. Genomics.
5'7, 135 lbs, pretty regular nose.
I don't know how expensive life is where you live. I want to live comfy middle class life, nothing more.
I just don't see a point. It's not like they're hurting anyone, and getting new plates is a refreshing experience.

really? You sound like a lovely person from what little we know. And no one has picked you up? STEM is normally full of men, and the guys compete for the 1 or 2 girls in each class.
Half of the girls I went through engineering with did exactly that. They got the degree, married a guy in the program and then became house wives. Its a little depressing actually, as most of them had A averages and ate up school resources that could just as well went to the men that they married and would eventually provide for them.
>I just don't see a point. It's not like they're hurting anyone, and getting new plates is a refreshing experience.
You're increasing landfill. It will eventually hurt someone.
Wash your damn dishes.
Studies show whatever the person funding the study want it to...
Lightly every day - as in washing up and sweeping. Biggish clean - hovering and mopping, once a week
One day in the future China will purchase old landfills and mine them for resources...
Dated the same guy for years, didn't work out in the end. I never cared about the guys hitting on me because (((loyal))).
Maybe I'll find my husband next year.
>Dating one person at a time.
Well there's your problem. You should always maintain at least 3 intimate relationships at a time, just in case two of them don't work out. Cheating is a meme created by men and their feelings of inadequacy.
Melamine pads work the best. I use the Mr clean magic erasers but any brand will do
Cleaning =/= Throwing stuff out. I produce very little trash in fact. I don't waste food either. I grew up kind of poor so I was taught to value things. Also it's called making just enough food for yourself. I donate extra clothes to Purple Heart all the time. They call, I leave a bag on the porch, they pick it up. Your general assumption about people who are clean is incredibly ignorant and makes you look like a complete dumbshit.
I do have a question for you. Why are you such an insufferable and abrasive faggot who makes wildly inaccurate assumptions about people because you're a lazy fuck?
>Well there's your problem. You should always maintain at least 3 intimate relationships at a time, just in case two of them don't work out. Cheating is a meme created by men and their feelings of inadequacy.
don't listen to this retard.
>Why are you such an insufferable and abrasive faggot who makes wildly inaccurate assumptions about people because you're a lazy fuck?
because polite questions go ignored on Jow Forums.
Wow, you're really making it difficult to refute such a well thought out and researched statement as that.
Because I'm basically a child it is impossible to clean my house daily or weekly. Every single room is a 'project' room so cleaning it requires 'sorting' which means it is a sort of 3-4 times a year deal. I hoover pretty much every other day and wipe everything down daily and keep my dishes done, washing folded and away and things have a place .. but .. things have a place.
So I've got like, floor to ceiling books and cameras and projectors and junk electronic parts and tools and stuff .. everywhere is stuff. Drums are setup, microphones are setup, keg bar is setup. I just have an idea for a project and I start it and make it fit the space I've got in mind, then I do the same on top of it and on top of it until the place looks like a kind of workshop/lair.
Everywhere in the house is like that. Like if there is a space I'll make something to go there to start or expand upon a hobby. I like it, I love that my house looks like the workshop of a crazy person and combines eclectic domesticity and science, but ... god is it hard to clean.
Like I go in peoples houses and their living room has a sofa, a chair, a coffee table, a tv on a stand and a shelf with two books on it. That is it, it looks like the set of some cheap production. Imagine how easy that shit is to dust and clean.
Good point. No one responded to my question in the 30+ thread. 100 something replies and none to mine :(
This is pretty much my house too.
I have two arcade machines taken appart in the kitchen, a drum set in another room, all my ebay sales in another and a ww2 jeep project on shelves in another.
If I ever manage to get married, I'll probably have to get a shop. I don't see a wife being cool with a street fighter 2 cab being taken apart in the kitchen.
Like you, I often wonder about normies too. How are they happy with such a boring living space? How do they not have anything big they want to do? Do they just Work, eat, sleep, shit, fuck, and clean?
Once a week with tidying in between.
I don't know man. I guess they probably spend a lot more on holidays, clothes, going out and sustaining themselves with relatively expensive convenience things. I spend a lot more time on making things, sustaining myself through my hobbies, finding cheap things and repairing things. There have been phases that I'm glad to see the back of, like 5 massive aquariums were a bit of a burden. The guinea pig breeding program too. Though I've bigger plans. Solar powered self aerating compost digester. Intensive vertical vegetable garden. Rain water collector and microprocessor controlled irrigation. I got robbed once and I was trying to explain to the police my surprise that they took very little. I was saying how this shelf contained a couple of grands worth of vintage valves, ribbon microphones, tube microphones, guitar effects and other electronics. They said no offence, but I don't want to touch anything in this place because it all looks like it is going to kill me and I'm sure they felt the same way.

I do a deep clean about once a month on Wednesdays over the whole house
Every week that you do a great clean, clean and detail one different thing each time.
(I knotice that people seem to alway want to come to my home. And they always comment how nice and clean it is...).
theifs are looking for that easy pawn for meth
never.
Because I'm dead inside and want to die on the outside too.
Kind of an interesting schedule..
I usually let it pile up badly before cleaning as much as I can on a Saturday or Sunday but cleaning parts of the house each day will just keep the mess away from pilling up badly and that's an raiser way to manage
Sma tasks daily not weekly..
Thanks
