Jean-Claude Juncker has said there is “no room whatsoever” for renegotiating the Brexit deal as Theresa May returns to Brussels in an attempt to reopen talks.
The prime minister embarked on a frantic journey to Brussels on Tuesday to try to salvage some concessions, but the European commission president reiterated that Brussels would not revisit the withdrawal agreement.
Speaking to the European parliament in Strasbourg, Juncker scoffed: “There is a surprise guest at the European council, which is Brexit, I am surprised. I am surprised because we had reached an agreement.”
The rebuke comes as another defeat for May, whose negotiated deal is expected not to pass Parliament 'by a humiliating margin', potentially putting her government in jeopardy.
