I go to UCLA and I've taken an online class where you peer review other students' responses to questions asked about an article. There are kids who are at least sophomores in college that are writing at a 6th grade level; some not even answering the questions in the slightest. American universities are filled with complete morons. All of this wouldn't be too far off for a college student, especially at CSUN.

Exams often need to be moved several months to find an appropriate date.
They often don't even bother and give the students a pass. Since it's an exam at Christmas, they'll probably let it slide and give everyone a pass.

Middle Eastern families put pressure on their kids to pursue degrees in engineering or medicine, much in the same way Chinese parents do.
Sadly, the majority of the new engineers are middle eastern for the simple fact that most white kids aren't pressured into it.
The majority of kids grow up hating maths, so when they look at engineering and the amount of numbers involved, it's usually too intimidating to even consider without pressure from family.
