Japan appreciation thread

Japan appreciation thread.

I'll start:
The Meiji Restoration bespoke a degree of adaptability, restraint, and inner-awareness for which I have trouble finding an equal in the past 300 years.

Please don't die, Japan. Start having kids.

Probably not much since they will never give them citizenship or much related rights or ability to use citizen-only services, etc.

>leaf
Opinion discard as it is just as retarded as every other leaf's nonsense.

I have not, but have had lots of indirect contact. Been to Singapore, but that was as close as I've come. Had a pen-pal there prior to Jow Forums existing.

Also, the only country that has 60 and 50 Hz power grid.

I'm visiting in march. Kinda nervous since it's my first time going to asia, and also first time in a non-white country, so everyone will know I'm a foreigner

I looking to move there. I have already lived in Chiba for 1 year, and can't wait to go back.
With that, may the Japanese deflect hordes of invaders still yet to come.

Minority haha

>everyone will know I'm a foreigner
From what I have gleaned from others, you won't have anything to fear. I think there is a word in Japanese for foreigners that has a slightly patronizing connotation like "child", but they'll treat you better than normal *because* you are foreign and presumed to not know WTF about their incredibly sophisticated system of etiquette. I've heard stories that when they hosted the World Cup (18 years ago?) that they gave the Yakuza certain latitudes in exchange for fucking up the locals that tried to prey on the tourists.

Seriously... how many other countries treat guests that well? I often wish the average American had half the integrity the average Jap does.

I'd say the Meiji Restoration makes no sense but maybe my understanding is wrong.

>shogun wants to modernize and open up Japan, sides with some gaijins in order to modernize
>plenty of lords don't want that so they encourage the emperor to regain power
>emperor sides with other gaijins in order to modernize and, as a consequence, open up Japan
>Emperor wins against modernity with more modernity in the name of traditionalism
>lords realize they got fucked
>samurai rebellion is put down
>Japan modernizes
>the war changed basically nothing other than the person leading the modernization
Is this correct?

IDK if your boil-down is correct or not. I can't read any of their parallel writing systems.

I look at this way: How many nations were formed from feudalism with wars, democide, invasion, and/or famine?

To my eyes, it would be like the US looking at the Brits in 1860 and deciding to end slavery not only without a war, but also while making everyone (slaves or not) freer.

They seemingly imported ideas without fear. As if they sat down, decided how they ought to be, and without killing a single innocent largely achieved it.

Incidental: This is the period of time in which Japan got cheese.

I think it would be like our deep-state finding religion and turning themselves over to be tried for treason out of pride in themselves, and good for their countrymen, and Trump only having to wipe up a handful of spiteful holdouts.

The Meiji Restoration was basically the Rise of the Merchants. Not ((these)) merchants but close enough.

Fuck off, we're full.

That attitude is also cause for respect.
I don't want to live there. I have too many roots here, and I know how much Japan values their ethnic identity. It would not be correct for me to immigrate, even if the offer was extended.

I just want it to continue to exist. I've said my piece. I'm going to go knock up my wife again now. Pls go do same.

This attitude is not widespread enough. The poor Japs are mostly unaware of the effects of immigration. They're mostly oblivious to the current state of Europe and believe that it's some kind of socialist paradise.
And if you haven't already figured it out, I'm not Japanese.

Pretty much every jap poster is an English teacher/not Japanese on Jow Forums, save for those on Jow Forums.

Went to Japan last year, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the way external cultural influences are handled as to minimize the degree as to which it can affect the present culture.

The serene landscape, amazing infrastructure

Pretty comfy
