Farm attack/armed robbery.

Over the last week, several attempt of farm/house-breakings/ attackes were endoured ( Nieuwe Drift, Perdeberg ) and last night, the 10th of December 2018, the alleged same group of robbers/attackers were succesful on a secure farm on the Lustigaan Road in Paarl.
Around 21.30 the group of at least 5 man, visual armed with pangas and knifes, wearing balaclava's, entered the main Farm-house.
Inside an elderly couple and their daughter were enjoying the evening, but now, confronted by the culprits, were tied down and an 1.5 hour ordeal began.
The entire house was ransacked and the efforts were focused on the gun safe. Various items were taken including all fire-arms.
The victims were traumatished, but one was able to free hereself minutes after the culprits left, and call for help, answered by the neighbour.
The neigbour, who is part of the farm-watch, used the radio to the control-centre and immediately all services were alarmed.
Within minutes, the armed response teams of the Drakenstein Farm-watch were on site, later joint by their partners and armed response teams of Fidelity ADT, and PACRS and Pangela security aswell as a team from Paarl Police.
The medical responders of the Farm-watch took care of the victims, while the other teams secured the area and went after the culprits.
A stiff warning was issued over the emergency radio network, not to persue or go out.
During the chase, taking place over various farms, the radio network was used to report of activity . Various alarms on different farms, were triggered, possibly by the culprits, during the search.
The gathered leads during the chase were shared with police.
Some of the weapons were retrieved.
After the arrival of back-up of local and specialized police teams, the DFW responders returned back to HQ.
