As someone with both, a good quality AR can be relatively low maintenance. Get a Colt, BCM, FN, Daniel Defense etc with chrome lined chamber and bore. I dont clean ANY of my rifles until 1500 rounds or so, I only lube them every 500 or so.
I think its more a collector thing, user. Like I only planned on one myself, then before I knew it I had a half a dozen rifles.

Nice. Looking to buy my first AR. Been researching and lurking Jow Forums threads. I want low price but decent quality. I'm no marksman only have a 9mm so want a good gun to learn and fuck around with. I'm thinking about PSA or my local store has M&P 15 sport II and Ruger AR-556 both at $599. Thoughts? I've shot plenty of both. Either will be acceptable quality for the price. I personally prefer mid level ARs as I like to plink with steel cased ammo, and a lot of the cheaper ARs choke on it. The rifle seems like the expensive part, but feeding it really is what costs. So having a good rifle that will eat whatever you feed it will cost less in the long run, by far. I would consider throwing down a few hundred more on like a Colt LE6920. The used market has plenty of good deals too, check the equipment exchange on arf.com

You have to be a member in a hunting club to get a hunting gun and in a target shooting club to get a gun for that purpose. I think it says you need to be an active member for 2 years in a target shooting club before you can apply for gun license. As for hunting, I don't know how long, but you need to show that you have passed the hunting exam and that you are active.
I don't have a car so can't drive to the firing range nor hunting, and I don't even know anyone who hunts.
The only option is to get an illegal gun, but it's pretty difficult too probably in a small town.

No. It's not even a loophole. Private sales are specifically exempted from The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, the law that imposed mandatory background checks on firearm sales. They call it a loophole because it is a typical scummy leftist wordplay. They want you to think that those nasty gun owners are slinking around the law.
MOST private sellers at least ask for a gov issued ID. If you have a bong accent, I guarantee they'd ask.

It is illegal, however, to knowingly sell to a non resident of your state and/or a prohibited possessor (felon). So in short, you can meet someone up and buy a gun in a parking lot, yes. You also do not need to be a US citizen, but you need to have a green card and be a lawful permanent resident to buy a gun WITH a background check. If you live in my state with my state's ID, britbong or not, I can legally sell a gun to you. I've bought and sold many firearms just that way in addition to doing regular new purchases with "background checks".

I've noticed Aero seems to use a bit of a softer finish on their lowers than other manufacturers. Not quite anderson tier where you can scrape it off easily, but seems to get dinged up a little faster than my colt receiver. Tbh though all receivers are the same, get whatever the cheapest is.
