If you learn german first you get lot's of cognates of the other germanic languages. Plus you get to learn german, which is a very nice language. Ultimately icelandic is the most useful to learn though for studying old norse stuff. It's good to study them all though, icelandic, norwegian, swedish, danish, dutch, german, etc, all of the germanic languages.

The two sets of stories are far removed enough to not coincide. The Jewish gods are based on gods directly from the Babylonian, Canaanite, and Persian myths. Yahweh is taken directly from the Canaanite pantheon and he is a god of war and sacrifice. Jesus is taken mainly from Mithras of the Persian myths, who was born on the winter solstice, released blood onto the planet to cleanse it, died then rose again after 3 days, etc (there are more similarities). Technically he is a sun god, the sun being given to us by the higher gods/god and acts as a sort of "node" from them to us (gives us life, gives us light allowing us to see, cuts through the endless dark void.) All things considered we are probably literally made of dust from our own sun making it extremely important and holy to us, at least it was before our understanding of the link between science and spirituality was lost because you cucks adopted a religion of spiritual desolation whose myths don't intend to reveal any cosmic truths, but rather run along the lines of "hey believe my war god and sacrifice to him or be punished eternally."
