Why is California idolized so much? It has cap roads, shit traffic, and rampant crime? I know economically it is good but living in this state my entire life, why do people love it here and idolize it?
California idolized?
Because it's along the west coast of the United States and it's where all the new-world shit comes from. It also has the most massive economy in the U.S. (and one of the largest in the world), covers a vast variety of terrain and environments (NorCal all the way down to SoCal) and it's where Silicon Valley is.
I mean, it's kind of like asking why people not in the U.S. idolize the U.S.?
Pretty much every republican wants Calfornia to fall off the earth.
I'm not even from the States and I hate it.
Economically it would have collapsed long ago if not for the federal government it scorns so much repeatedly helping them out. The weather and lack of mosquitoes were the only things that I appreciated about the week I spent there a few years ago. From the hilariously overpriced everything to the stuck up snobby attitudes of the locals if I didn't speak like a neanderthal like them, there was little to bring me back. Plus the beaners everywhere were worse than Texas.
Because the grass is always greenest on the other side. At least hypothetically.
The good parts are really good, but the bad parts are really bad.
The answer is multifaceted, but I’ll share with you what I have learned from growing up there any moving away since.
Weather; people in general seem to feel winter or even cloudy days are an unnecessary burden, most of California has very mild winters and plenty of sunny days. Besides that, the state has an interesting mix of warn and slightly humid, most days are enjoyable there, even the rain is usually gentle and extremely predictable.
Two hours from skiing and two hours from thr Pacific Ocean. Plus deserts and forests, location is king.
There is a lot of young culture there; relatively a very new state (1850) thus breeding out of the box ideas.
The food is usually of a high standard and the produce is usually really fresh. The lettuce, garlic and onions are top tier, much like berries in Washington state.
The downsides are many, but the ones that I notice most I couldn’t see until I moved away. The biggest glaring one is the culture. Everyone despises everyone else, you’re character is based soley on what clothes you wear and what you drive, and where and in what you live in. It gets to the point where you feel everyone is playing sort of giant larp.
People there are genuinely mean and heartless, the state seems to lack a common thread of decency and friendliness. It lacks old culture, and the culture that does exist isnt much to be proud of.
The traffic is really bad everywhere...
Too many laws and too many cops. You wont make it an hour with a taillight out before getting pulled over and ticketed.
I grew up in California. It's shit.
Grass is always greener.
Spent most of my life in California. I moved away to the Midwest and realized how shit it was compared to California. Just like anywhere else you've got the bad parts (socal mainly LA) and the good parts (NorCal and San Diego). There's just so much more going on in California than other places. It moves at a different speed. I love this state and I'm never going to leave it again.
Grew up in CA, spent 20 years of my life there. It's a shithole and it's quickly going further down the drain. Most of my Family members left in the state are desperately trying to leave it. Hopefully they can get out within the next 4 years. Newsome is going to be the next Governor and he's batshit.
Memes, marketing, and propaganda are powerful.

I could never stand this shit, it's like if social media was a fucking state, fucking hated this so much.
Like look, I'm not even the most social person out there, if anything I'm antisocial but this shit will drive you up the wall.
It's a state filled with some of the fakest fucking people you'll ever meet.
California = a few major cities.
Turns out that actually California is an entire state and people simply generalize everything to just a couple of cities.
Literally how?
Go fuck yourself
I've lived here my whole life and have only experienced this in very affluent communities. I disagree that it is a California specific culture.
Central CA is the only part worth living in.
Plenty of based farmers and cowboys, uncrowded beaches, tallest and best mountains in the lower 48, more oil than you can imagine, ect.
it's such a shithole state. everyone here is fucking brainwashed. The whole liberal/progressive movement is straight up bullshit. And the just want all the illegal immigrants here so the can get more tax money. Jerry brown is a money and power hungry man. And like wtf, hey guys let's just tax gas so it's even more expensive.
The weather, the allure of Hollywood, legalized weed..... and that's all I can think of really.
I lived in the Salinas valley for six years and can say for sure: thank fuck for illegals. They do all the shit jobs that nobody else wants to do. Industrial cleaning, farming, service staff, and various other menial jobs. Yes, they bring their share of problems like gangs, violence, money laundering, tax evasion, and consumption of public resources that they didn't pay into but some of those are effects of poverty not so much their immigration status.
>it's thot heaven, all the roasties go there to be Hollywood famous
>fake nerds want to be the next steve jobs working at silicon valley
>hippie culture brings in the stoners and yuppies
>getting pozzed in San Francisco is basically the greatest ambition for every gay on the planet
>it's a mecca for democrats and other burnt out commies
>shitty rappers want that street cred for moving to compton
Basically all that and a few other bad reasons.
Ask this on Jow Forums for a much more active thread.
