BULLSHIT! Explain THIS news, Jow Forums - major clothing retailer Francesca's is shutting down FORTY (40) stores. How does that happen in a "good" economy? This is the latest in a long string of American retail closings:
>Houston-based retailer to close up to 40 boutiques in 2019, 'hit pause' on remodels
>After reporting another quarter of declining sales, Houston-based Francesca’s Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: FRAN) disclosed this week that it plans to close 30 to 40 stores in fiscal year 2019, which begins Feb. 3... Francesca's has identified 129 underperforming boutiques... Within the next three years, 106 of those will reach the end of their leases or kick-out clauses, meaning Francesca’s will be able to vacate the space...
>For the fiscal third quarter, which ended Nov. 3, Francesca’s reported net sales of more than $95.37 million, down 10 percent year over year. That was primarily due to a 14 percent decrease in comparable sales.
>major clothing retailer >Francesca's Literally never heard of that shit and I'm a mallrat.
Bentley Long
Sorry never heard of them
They probably get China or some other shithole to make their clothes and pay teenagers minimum wage to stand behind a cashier
Cameron Morris
>if the economy is good howcome rotary phone companies are going bankrupt?

KEK, You didnt fall for the "muh high stock market" LARP did you user? You know that thing is an entire bubble Pumped up with QE money NOT reflective of the real world at all. Expect MOST retail to shut down due to eCommerce. Epect MOST labor jobs to go to MACHINES. This is the future Goyim.
Asher Cook
There will be another economic recession soon. Boom and bust.

Probably just another company outdone by online shopping. At any rate, why is this menial bullshit always getting posted here? It's reddit tier garbage.

>Francesca's is shutting down FORTY (40) stores. How does that happen in a "good" economy? Good economies are good because they seek efficieny. B&M Retail is inefficient. Sometimes those efficiencies become too powerful, and an Oligopoly is formed. Then government might have to step in to restore competition, or the Oligopoly might be allowed to persist because it's better than the previous high-competition model. t. High School Graduate.
Retail has been dying a slow death for about 15 years now. Nobody shops in stores when they can buy shit online faster and with better selection and competition.
Retail is basically obsolete. Only some niche stores and high-end boutiques are going to survive. That's just reality.
And it doesn't matter because people are still buying shit, and companies are still manufacturing shit. That's the real economic indicator -- not the venue where the product is purchased.
If consumer confidence was down -- it's not -- then there would be a problem. But the opposite is happening; consumer confidence is way up and sales are strong, but people are just changing where they actually buy things from.
Anyone who thinks retailers closing is a sign of a weak economy is either a fucking retard who doesn't understand economics or a shill. Or both.
Fashion fag here. Literally never heard of this store.
>One store losing enough profit in one quarter to decide to close 40 stores that are underperforming
Sounds like they import Chinese shit to me. Easier to buy clothes from stores that people have heard of and are benefiting from various tariffs namely Canada Taiwan Vietnam and obligatory glorius USA made clothes.
James Jones
Never heard of that store. Also fucking Amazon dude. Besides, working retail in the mall is a job for college kids and basement dwellers. Was anything really lost?
Dylan Walker
Never heard of them. Must be some tiny regional thing.
Liam Young
It's a fucking rag store that sells vanity garments. You can buy cloth pieces made by child slave labor elsewhere.
Never heard of them and that's how it works ass hole not everyone is a winner and if you want to make it big you fight for it. This is how it works it makes other fight to beat competition the real world doesn't give you a tried your best prize.
Nobody has ever heard of francescas. You can't blame trump because people would rather shop online. That also brings up another point. Do these people have a website? Is their whole business people brought down or just shops they don't need because nobody ever goes to the mall anymore? You need to think before you post stupid
Hunter Murphy
anytime I go to the mall, most of the stores have no shoppers buying anything. Even if 10 people buy stuff per day I still don't understand how they can afford rent, salaries and make a profit.
Leo Gomez
Bloomin Brands, one of the richest restaurant corporations, closed a ton of their stores nationwide just a few months ago. I may or may not work at a Bloomin Brands restaurant and it's pretty much well understood among management and staff alike that our job security is very low at this time.
Gabriel Peterson
Yes, they have a website. The story says that 10% of their sales come from online orders via their site. And this is not some small firm; this is a NASDAQ-listed retail corporation with hundreds of stores. That's big and broad enough to serve as a more general "indicator" of the state of the economy.
>Sounds like they import Chinese shit to me. This. It’s cheap fast fashion in an upscale boutique type setting. They tried to expand way too much. Where I live there is one on every corner. I think I’ve even seen one at the outlet mall. It’s like the subway of retailers.
Justin Foster
Find me a traditional retailer ANYWHERE in the country doing solid business right now -- especially retail apparel.
Macy's has barely kept itself afloat since the mid 2000's -- after it's parent company Federated Department Stores declared bankruptcy. Some quarters are better than others but they've been on a downward trend for twenty years.
Saks Fifth Avenue is in major trouble too -- and has been for about ten years now. Ditto Lord & Taylor, who've been bought by a Canadian retail giant and rebranded upscale but still had to close stores.
The story is the same for dozens and dozens of midsize to large retail establishments in the USA and globally.
This is not a general indicator of the economy. Not by a long shot. Traditional retail is in trouble because it's an untenable business model in the 21st century. First hit was competition from mega-retailers like Target and H&M in the late 1990s and then with competition from online shops like Amazon. This is a one-two punch they just haven't been able to cope with successfully.
This is like saying the economy is unhealthy because all the buggy whip manufacturers went out of business. No, it's just obsolescence.
Take a look at consumer confidence for the real general indicator.
Carter Gray
I simply don't accept the thesis that "malls are dying" or that "the internet is killing retail." I visited Manila earlier this year, and the city has gigantic malls which appear to be doing quite well. If "retail is dying," how is this possible in a much SMALLER economy than the US? To the contrary, this indicates that the US economy in particular is heading for trouble as consumers pull inward and away from the stores.
Maybe because nobody buys overpriced nigger clothes anymore.
Hunter Gray
>Bezos has become the richest man alive based on his amazon package delivery and online shopping service >why are retails shutting down????
FUCKING GRONALD
Asher Jackson
Wether you want to accept it or not doesn't make the truth wrong. Malls are dying. Internet ordering is taking over, go read some data.
Trump has nothing to do with that. Jobs in IT and Distribution are growing rapidly in the US due to online shopping becoming the norm.
Aiden Ward
I honestly dont see how retailers besides major clothes chains like kohls, fast food, grocery markets, and general stores like walmart/target are going to exist in the future. There will be lots of abandoned land that will be torn down to make houses for the (((new americans))). There might be more gyms, more cell phone stores, more microsoft/apple stores in those empty spots but thats about it
Isaiah Martin
This isn't a good example. Retail's been dying in America for almost two decades now. I can remember Kmart and other big corporate giants going under in the early 2000s.
Amazon, yo, shit's going online these days and all these brick and mortar stores that are part of malls are on borrowed time.
Carter Reyes
>>OMG (another) old out of date format of big box or brick & mortar stores are going bankrupt. Let's add it to the list Toys R Us, Circuit City, Sears, Kmart, Hh Greg, RadioShack, insert about 15 others here. >>OP you fucking ignore retard... Shows how much you know about the current climate of retail, doesn't matter HOW well the economy is doing the stocks could be up 1000 pts a day and GDP at 10 per cent growth it wouldn't be enough to save these stores. >>Hurrr durrr why is brick & mortar retail closing The demographics and markets have shifted away from brick and mortar for about 12 years now. Online retailers and local boutique are destroying that segment. Go research and quit generalizing fuck stick. Nigger.
It's called capitalism. Survival of the fittest. Amazon is better suited for survival than Francescas. If you don't like it, move to a socialist/communist shithole.
>Strikes out, but team won game anyways Baseball is dying!
>Fails assignment, but passes course Education is terrible, I'm becoming a NEET!

This. Manila, Bangkok, Seoul, etc etc. ALL have massive booming shopping malls and retailers. Some of the biggest in the world in fact Maybe America has a problem with antisocial culture (eg not wanting to come in contact with loitering niggers and spics and other undesriables), preventing people from going out and mingling. The nightlife in the above mentioned cities are also leaps and bound better, safer and more crowded with people than in America as well. Imagine that!
Aiden Morris
the economic situation is really only good cause of gas prices desu one clothing retailer proves absolutely nothing.
Juan Scott
I went to a mall the other day to drop off an amazon package at their lock box.. it felt like I was in an alternate dimension. One where I was a visitor, watching the last of the dinosaurs roaming the world.. and they were completely oblivious of it.
I think I was staring too hard and might have genuinely looked bewildered. I'm no zoomer but it still hit me, that the malls and the people who still frequent them are a modern museum piece. It's a breathing exhibit piece, like the last mammoth
David Scott
How many niggers are there? Malls are only dying in america because of niggers and spics hanging around these places and security cant do a thing about it.
Nathaniel Gutierrez
I don't go to the mall anymore and haven't for about 15 years because loitering niggers make it an undesirable place to take my family.
Brandon Bailey
Part of that is because online shopping is wiping out the necessity for brick and mortar stores.
Aiden Murphy
You answered your own question! All those countries you named are smaller and more homogeneous while you yanks have to deal with spics and niggers.
Eli Butler
>how come this one single business i cherrypicked is not succeeding
Why do you rabid niggers spend every waking moment of your life trying to turn the country against Trump? Serious question.
Owen Wilson
Good economy doesn't mean.businneses are immune from their own shitty practices
Ian Foster
Not only that, but also urban sprawl as well.
Nobody wants to get in their car and sit in gridlock traffic for 2 hours to go 10 miles to the nearest shopping mall when they can just order online. Compare that to somewhere like Seoul with their massive Lotte shopping mall complexes that are only a short subway ride or walk away from anywhere and completely free of niggers, and shopping at malls suddenly become a fun and social activity. Same for nightlife as well. Malls, bars and nightclubs are absolutely massive and PACKED with people in Asia, where as its all dying in the US.
Malls and shopping outlets are a social experience in many places. Where as antisocial, suburban and urban sprawled US only views it as a chore and an errand these days.
Thats why Asian retail is booming and the US is failing. And yes, loitering niggers and spics too. I cant wait to gtfo of this broken, backwards ass country.
Daniel Wood
Going to a shopping mall to have fun instead of being surrounded by subhuman scum sounds amazing.
Jaxon Rivera
The fucking Wells Fargo in my town is closing. I couldn't be happier. Fuck bankfags. #MattressGang.
Go check out Asia, bro. Anywhere, doesnt matter if its Bangkok or Tokyo and take note of the difference between those cities and our shitholes in the US. Their malls are massive, immaculate and packed to the brime with people from families to teenagers. Bars and nightclubs are just genuinely fun places to have a few drinks, dance and meet people, no cocky douchebags or niggers looking to shoot you for stepping on their overpriced ugly ass shoes. Public transit is hospital-tier clean, safe and efficient.
I fucking cant way to finally move overseas.
Anthony Nguyen
You have no idea. You think they can afford online shopping? High speed internet in every home? I bet they still use internet cafes. To them, window shopping is still a thrill.
You idiots have no idea what you're talking about or how others outside your snowglobe think. Shopping malls to them are what they were here in the US 15+ years ago. They'll grow tired of them too once they see how stupid drooling over trinkets and clothes in an opulent setting is..
But you yourself are stuck in that mode of thought so you'll search for other excuses for the death of shopping malls
Evan Phillips
No I get it, I've seen the videos on Youtube of people doing random ass shit like going to a McDonalds in Asia.
It's like night and day, I won't even go to my local fast food places past 6PM becuase the only people still working or drug addicted niggers.
Chase Hernandez
>Everything you posted is right, but that pisses me off becuase Asia is just what my country used to be over a decade ago.
Are you fucking serious here? That's what you're bitching.
Adrian Collins
says the dude who lets the bank cuck his money >muh interest Fuck outta here.
Ian Perry
This. Based Trump is killing the corrput consumerist kike economy to prepare us for the digital retail future filled with incredibly low prices.
Michael Foster
South Korea has the fastest internet in the world. In places like Thailand its just as good and efficient as the US. Internet is even cheaper in Asia too. Regardless of Wifi though, EVERYBODY has smartphones, even in Southeast Asia. So no, youre wrong, they are just as connected to the world and the internet as we are.
Retail is booming in places like Tokyo still and theyve been a modern world power as long as we have (post World War 2).
The US fucking sucks dude. Urban and suburban sprawl, antisocial mentally ill spergs, niggers and spics, awful outdated infrastructure. Either recognize this fact and begin to fix it or get the fuck over it as the world passes us by.
Luke Reed
That whites were the first to jump on the online shopping bandwagon. They sign up for every new gimmick that crosses their path. If there's a reason for shopping malls dying off it's because of your online shopping habits. You talk about new sites and services months, maybe even a year or two before it catches on with other groups Yet here you are, passing the buck, scapegoating as usual
Don't you ever get sick of yourself? You're slimebags
Sebastian Moore
Eventuallty stores close, if you judge your economy on a store closing, only 2 options, you have no idea about economics or you-re just another paid to post democrat. reddit is where you belong.
Joseph Nguyen
We shop online becuase black Friday gets just a little too fucking black every year.
You know this you subversive fucking faggot.
Gabriel Phillips
I work in brit retail, high street shopping is dying here too. The hight street shops here are now often only charity shops, immigrant take aways and hairdressers.
Christian Ortiz
So Amazon cucking the competition means the economy is bad? Is it good economy for locational stores to thrive and prosper rather than online merchants? Cause I hate going to the mall/walmart/target/etc because of bums, niggers, con artists trying to solicit money from me, so I'll order stuff online.
Lucas Taylor
Invaders destroy local shops, then paid kikes come to Jow Forums to tell you it's all good in the hood.
Oliver Miller
Nearly every small shop in this town is run by foreigners, now that is weird in itself.
Thomas Scott
No it makes perfect sense to me, Becuase any local "shop" in america is the same way.
The fucker that owns it? He's white. Everyone else? They're black or brown. Is it a drycleaner? They're all Asian. For fucks sake globalism.
Josiah Ortiz
Those are some of the most shallow, materialistic people around. Of course walking around a shopping mall for the sake of vanity will be popular there.. they're vapid. You're talking about people who'll buy 4 giant grapes for $50 just so they can leave it on their dinner table. They'll pay $10 for one orange, $100 for a square watermelon.. all that just to show off. I mean come on, wtf is the matter with you
Jeremiah Gonzalez
They buy overpriced fruit because it's rare there.
Sam reason the fish market in Japan in inaccessible to westerners who enjoy good Sushi.
You're just as stupid as the people you insult.
Tyler White
Francesca’s was to Free People what Claire’s is to Kay Jewelers. They sold overpriced cheaply made Coachella clothes They won’t be missed
Oliver Ramirez
Maybe they just suck
Ian Moore
But those are third world shit holes. Of course they don't have the luxary America does with online shopping and cheaper better fabric stores or whatever.
This is bait, but I’ll decent, so I’ll take it. Trad retail has been buying a slow death for over a decade, with M&A, bankruptcy and massive debt being all that has kept many of these companies afloat. If you don’t understand that, I’m surprised you even know how to post on Jow Forums, cause your dumb as fuck. The internet & innovation has killed retail, not Trump, is any other president, or legislation for that matter.
Ryan Bailey
Wow maybe some people like to just go out, socialize, and have some tea or coffee while they do their shopping!
Contrary to the popular belief here in America that the world is slipping into a degenerate hellfire, there are many many countries still where tons of people are mentally healthy and congregate for socializing and activities.
Go ahead though, enjoy ordering your products off of Amazon while sitting around in your semen crusted pajamas all day by yourself while pretending youre somehow superior and on the cutting edge of future technology.
Jack Perry
Buildings and roads are all too common. It's the people that decide if the country is third world. And people from Asia, all third world mongoloids
Isaiah Williams
>They buy overpriced fruit because it's rare there.
And they'll do the same with levi's, ralph lauren, hugo boss, etc.. etc.. You know how much designer shoes and outfits means to them? Probably not, you don't anything. Materialism, brand lusting, putting this front for everyone is rampant there. They're phony people and phony people do phony shit.. like frequent shopping malls because that's where the herd is supposed to gather
Bentley Green
This. Also, if you want to be wealthy, create something of value, and make sure you own it. (Copyright, trademark, patent, incorporated; as applicable.
No one slaving away for corportions will become (relatively) wealthy again. If you think wages don’t reflect companies success, just wait another 10 years. Productivity hasn’t been tied to wages for 40 years, and automation, AI and increased leverage of mega companies will make work for a paycheck worth enough to even fucking cover room and board a thing of the past very, very soon.
Aaron Ross
>Yeah dude! So third world bro!
This picture was taken at one of many high end, massive shopping malls in Bamgkok.
Now go to your nearest suburban nigger infested shithole US shopping mall and see if it looks anything like this in terms of size, quality and crowd size. These city malls have all the luxury brand stores we have, such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, etc. You can find anything there that you can find here and then some.
Go fuck yourself. Retards like you are what is holding the US back and allowing so-called "shitholes" like even Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam to surpass us.
I know South Korea worships the lost white identity, and spends massive amounts of money on plastic surgery to look more white only to have self centered shit eaters like you still think you're the greatest fuckers on the planet becuase your parents were white.
Jacob Fisher
True, and regional oligopolies already exist in Amazon (global, but most powerful in America), Alibaba (China, and spreading) & Rakuten (Japan). Their power is already so high that governments are fawning over the lobbyist graft, and they probably couldn’t do much to slow their roll even if they wanted to; which they don’t.
Logan White
People are buying expensive clothes now.
Jonathan Miller
>. If you don't like it, move to a socialist/communist shithole. Where the gov would nationalize the company with no compensation.
Ethan Rivera
Clubs are still popular in mega cities, regardless of continent. However, Asians and South Americans tend to hit the club more so than other regions, also as with any country, the club scene continues to be (mostly) an 18-30ish crowd.
The key point you’re right about is that ppl don’t socialize any more, and this is more true of divisive America than in Asia, South America and parts of Europe. Our society has to find a way to renter the arena of ideas and the town hall. Relationships, conversation & debate are three areas that were critical to America’s success in the 20th century, and if changes aren’t made, the lack of them will feed our demise.
Asher Young
This is why I’ve lived in Taipei (2 years) & Tokyo (8+ years) out of the last 20 yrs.

>some shitty retailer >this represents the whole economy!
retard.
Connor Edwards
This is accurate, the reason people in western countries don't enjoy going out shopping as much as Asian countries is niggers.
Niggers, niggers niggers. It's always niggers. No one wants to be around niggers.
In Tokyo, McDonalds is still 24/7, but had smartly dressed, attractive women in fucking suits taking your order with a smile; even at 5 am after hitting the club.
Joshua Long
>You don't know anything You don't lol..
You keep using the most materialistic, fake, approval seeking asiatic demos to show how relevant shopping malls still are.. Dude, you're a vapid motherfucker. Simple and insecure, you want to go hang out at the mall? HAhaha go for it. But you won't convince me that going there is cool and somehow necessary.. lol quite the opposite.
And btw, I'm not wh*te
