Dude you have to Travel after College it's what everyone is doing

22, just graduated college with an engineering degree, I have about 20k savings some locked in crypto during this bear market (down 20% holding). 80k salary job lined up starting in a month. Hot smart girlfriend for the past 5 years, trying to turn it into a "power" couple (she is becoming a doctor).

Everyone keeps telling me to go travel, spend my money, have fun this summer. All I want to do is make more money from crypto and figure out how to go to law school. Save up for a property and start renting it out to pay off the mortgage.

What's with this traveling thing? I see it as a thing that Europe loves to sell the idea to rich american kids. Do these people really think they're going to become enlightened by running around taking instagram photos of the leaning tower of piza?

Wtf is going on Biz? Looking for comments and advice but I probably won't change my mind on what I wanna do

>trying to turn it into a "power" couple

*snap*

>80k salary job lined up
What state and doing what? I can't find shit around here.

cringe.

Once she’s a doctor she will leave you as you are now socially under her. Cap this and come back when it happens. Have a nice day. (Op is a faggot)

southern california area, project engineer for a top 20 global construction management company

go and travel why you're young or you'll end up looking like a massive faggot when you have your mid life crisis and try going to clubs in Malta etc

What if I have a higher income and status and investments than her by the time she is a doctor? I could be a lawyer don't forget that. And she will have a lot of debt too. She won't be doctor for 6 years and I will be 27 by then with passive assets.

>southern California
Oh, so like poverty then.

>power couple

More like power cuckold

I mean I want to do some traveling to a few interesting places. But it can happen at any time in my 20s and I think I would have a better time with younger girls and a better financial situation.

Cringe. Fucking faggot humble bragger. Enjoy being a stemcuck that sits under fluorescent lighting all day LMAO AND YOUR GF WILL MAKE MORE MINEY THAN YOU LNAO

>civil “engineer”

It's degeneracy. They think traveling will turn you into some kind of open borders faggot because you ate at a cafe where you were served by the most charming brown people while drunk.

>power couple

>he cant make money while traveling from his laptop
Lmaoing at your normie ass life

Hahahah exactly I think they were all sold this idea by some heavy advertising and popular media throughout their embarrassing lives

kek

You are thinking with logic. If you haven’t realized by now that women don’t use logic when making decisions to ruin a good thing it’s too late. Also doctor is over any other profession. She’s going to be working long nights surrounded by other doctors who are most likely psychopaths with god complexes and unlimited access to viagra scripts.. Rip OP. Press F.

F

Most Civil engineers I have met are dumbasses and you sound like one too

$80k isn't even enough to cover rent in southern california.

Gonna live with parents for a few years with no rent or food expenses hehe

Lmao he’s a bottom tier engineer, basically a glorified technician.

If you’re not mech e (including its branches like aerospace), chem e, or electrical e, you’re NOT a real engineer.

Honestly, you could die next year. I've known people like that. Normies think more like this. Having some fun while you can and are young isn't so bad lads

Nothing will work out like you plan. Sooner or later you will get rekt. Have fun with your fairy tale larp. OP is still a fag

I am not in civil engineering though, I have that degree, but I work as a construction project manager... Fuck working as a civil engineer

Idgaf. Let's talk about the difference between what I am doing and what other "God Tier" engineers are doing. It took me 2 seconds to find a job in which I make more than anybody in any of those other STEM degrees. I also get to walk around a construction site and breathe fresh air instead of sitting in a dark and cold cubicle cage. Low supply for my job, high demand, high salary, and high upside. Plus I can go become a construction attorney (also a small niche), make $600/hour. Real engineering is overrated.

Okay I feel bad for bantzing you now the power couple thing just made you sound like a massive faggot

red pill me on power couples then?
What's wrong with combining a fat income with a woman you genuinely care for?

I would love to see any of the fags in here refuse to be with a woman who can add 200k to your household income...

Once you are financially or socially below a woman you’re going to get a divorce

Not if the woman isn't a complete cunt. There are good women out there who do not care that much for financial or social status compared to their spouse.

>>trying to turn it into a "power" couple

i think you better stick to your job and forget the travel thing. you seem a bit serious type of a guy

Attached: -supports-Donald-Trump.jpg (750x899, 96K)

Epic thread confirmed

How old is your GF? Unless she is already accepted by medical school she probably isn't going to be a "doctor" and if she is she will have massive debt and make no money for about 10 years then she will have to be a stay at home mom because its impossible to be a mom and a doctor on call. So I would give up on the "power couple".

>law school

Lmao. just don't. Start your job, get experience. With 4 years under your belt you will be making well above any lawyer salary unless you are top 1%.

People say travel after college because its probably the last time you can take a lot of time off without significantly interrupting your career. If you never make it in crypto, and maybe your wife chains you down with a house and kids, you'll get stuck waging for life and probably never be able to do it again until you're like 60 yo if you even live that long. There is about a 1/3 change you will randomly die before then.

So after college is last change to travel for most wagie normie fags who have accepted the life mediocrity. If you are intent on making it or dying trying then don't give a fuck about it. But most normie fags are content with spending 40 years straight waging and that's why they travel after college.

Threads like this are so fucking stupid and contribute nothing to the board, they should be reportable.

>guys, here's a blogpost about my life
>you're welcome to comment but I'm not going to listen to you
>anyways thanks for reading my blog

Yeah fuck off.

>trying to turn it into a "power" couple

Well, you sound like the type of guy that is concerned with what other people think and really wants to impress other people so if you want to impress normies and really make them jelly you need to do some traveling. That's like the normie dream package. Have money, career and travel and shit.

It's usually a fun experience that enriches your perspective.
It is easier to do in your early/mid 20s because you (probably) don't have kids or onerous financial or professional responsibilities, and you are in peak physical and sexual condition.
Any questions?

>SoCal
So...you're poor? If you would have said Tulsa, Omaha, St Louis, Cleveland, etc I'd say breddy gud

I am willing to listen to other opinions, I simply said I am mostly set on what I wanna do and pretty stubborn in general. I think this thread is an interesting topic that a lot of people in Biz care about, I see the question about traveling or not all the time.

In some ways you sound like a clueless normie but at least it sounds like you didn't fall for the travel meme so you've got that going for you

She is 22. 1 Year from finishing bachelors in biology.

And yeah, but I figured the chances are high since she goes to a top school (UCI) for undergrad and has close to a 4.0. I am not set on having kids until I am like 30-35 to allow time for me to "make it" first.

And about law school, all the senior executives in my field said they would go back and do it. The height of my career in my profession is 200k. Decent lawyers in my industry like I said make 600/hour. Even the worse ones make 300/hour.

I think in general I am more intent on making it than anything else, which is why im reluctant to take out 10k to go travel right now lol

Op you just came to the virgin lair with everything they wanted asking for advice.

You ain't getting nothing but hate

Yeah that is my perspective on the majority of these responses thus far.

They bill $600/hour. Doesn't mean they make $600 x 8 x 5 a week.

The purpose of spending a lot of time travelling is trying to discover which place of the world you want to live in.
If all that you want is "tourism", dont fucking bother.

"What's with this traveling thing?" The theory of saving for the future works only if you consider you can't die at any point during this period.

The truth is you forgot you can die at any moment and wasting your life saving for later is as dumb as wasting your money.

Life is balance save + travel BOOOOM

Yeah I get that, but that is actually an advantage, the flexibility of being able to work those few hours a week. More efficient imo. THen you could go manage your properties and collect rent from the blacks and mexicans hehe

Who's hating him?

OP, you need to stick around on Jow Forums and become a crypto autist. Just be sure to have plenty of white children with your wife and raise them to be righteous and strong members of their family and race.

I like this perspective. I have already traveled to toronto, vancouver, amsterdam, and over 6 cities in Iran. Ive been to a few states in the US also. Nothing is better than Southern California. I am talking about the suburbs, like orange county. Not fucking LA or San Fran or downtown SD where the nigs are lol

>People say travel after college because its probably the last time you can take a lot of time off without significantly interrupting your career

right here champ
right now you're at your prime, time passes and doesn't come back.
One thing is to backpack around europe being a good looking young man, fucking girls here and there, doing drugs sometimes, meeting new people and discovering the world.
Another one is being a mid 40's boomer taking a week only trip because mr shekelstein wants his ass back to work by monday

remember: you'll never be young again

Attached: 1525096760178.jpg (1500x1500, 1.46M)

>The truth is you forgot you can die at any moment
Why is it then that as life becomes increasingly secure, that people live riskier lifestyles? It's true you could die at any moment but unlikely. The average person lives twice as long as they did 150 years ago. It would make more sense to plan for the future under these odds.

You're ignoring expenses. $600/hr is what the client pays for a billable hour of work. That is not what the lawyer is getting paid personally. A top 1% lawyer or equity partner might make a shit ton of money. But 99% lawyers will make less than the top 25% of engineers. I guess if you have connections in law firms or corporations go for law school, other wise its a waste of time you can make more money with your engineering degree.

Can someone sauce me on this ass though

Hahaha the 10 people that cringed are hating a bit. But idgaf.

And yeah I am 100% iranian and my girl is 50% iranian 50% spanish/italian so our children will be basically white. (Indo-european).

>20k savings
>some locked in crypto

Top kek - you’re delusional to think crypto is “savings”

Attached: B0EAE229-90C1-48D7-AE4F-3A9B38A07A18.jpg (500x665, 77K)

Again, I am no saying that you should never take some time off and go hunt favelitos with a shotgun in Latin America, I am just saying that after a few weeks you will no longer get much of a thrill.
Or you could become a nomad, which is pretty awesome, but not for everyone.

I am too obsessed with making it to shit on shekelstein and have the jew work for me to spend my money traveling while I am 22.

So, I would reply that travelling enrich your mind and your couple and it's investing in yourself, not just spending money to eat lobsters.

There is travelling and travelling.

only 10k/20k is in crypto.

Yeah. I agree with this. But I can also go outside my house and start hiking a mountain nearby. Why do I need a 1000 plane ticket to go do that in India? Shitskins smell lol

traveling can be very dangerous especially if you are an american.
even in 1st world countries.
ex. brazil is the tourist murder capital of the world
australia is pretty damn safe
if you have to travel and rly want to waste money, go on a fucking cruise
its more cost effective and more fulfilling
go first class tho
thanks me later, also go all in on 0xBitcoin

if your girlfriend is stupid enough to stay with a civil "engineer" after becoming a doctor she isn't smart enough to be a doctor in the first place

>She wont be a doctor for 6 years
So she hasnt even started yet? Haha gl OP, she wont fucking make it.

read the above posts, I am not going to be a civil engineer... I will end up being a project executive at a construction management firm... making well above 150-200k

You learn new things and will be inspired by traveling. To be a well rounded person it is important to be exposed to new situations, cultures, foods, smells ect.

Also if you to do full power couple you may have a bunch of little kids on their way soon, now is the time to go off and just do fun shit and not have to worry about bringing diapers and toy bags.

Attached: flight-pic.jpg (771x959, 56K)

man I fucking hate kids about to graduate talking about money they haven't made yet

that said travel is a massive meme and even the autists on this website are triggered by that fact
it's not fun
it's stressful, uncomfortable, and expensive in every situation

80k =/= 150-200k

they obviously didn't teach you maths in enginerd school, faggot.

That's because all of you are spineless spergs. Travelling is stressful. And it's fun because you're diving into the unknown and something new. Americans have such a skewed perspective on life. Money won't mean shit when you're on your death bed.

>t. guy travelling abroad and studying

Thats such horseshit lol

A woman with a good job and the motivation to be a doctor does not want to deal with dating.

In adult hood the ones who usually cheat are the ones with low stress cushy jobs.

I will end up, implying later in my career, iumplying you don;t know how to fucking read

>I see it as a thing that Europe loves to sell the idea to rich american kids.
Pretty much this. Is it worth it? Not really...

The moment she makes more money than you or senses you have less power than her you've crossed the event horizon. The relationship is over and it's impossible to recover it.

You should do something actually fun with the qt, barricade yourself for a week and fug all day everyday. Amusement parks, skydiving, go for a ride in a jet/race car, whatever something actually fun. If you're going to travel make it like Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, something actually worth seeing not some shitty buildings and muh culture.

>What's with this traveling thing? I see it as a thing that Europe loves to sell the idea to rich american kids.
It's called marketing, you can see old poorly maintained buildings all over the place without traveling to some shitty countries.
>I stayed in a hotel and saw a old building, it literally changed my life.
These people are brainlets.

Do NOT spend this money.
1. Save up a 3-6 month worth of expenses for an emergency fund
2. Save for a down payment on a house
3. Make SAFER investments than rollercoaster crypto like Mutual funds.
4. Save for you children's education

THAT'S IT. You have your whole life to travel and seeing pretty buildings is not worth $20,000 when you have no discretionary budget or savings. The people telling you to spend your money are either possessed by Satan or totally misinformed. Do NOT listen to them.

Iranians are just discount Asians

>seeing pretty buildings is not worth $20,000
Luckily it doesn't cost $20,000 either.

Hey mate I was in a fairly similar situation to yourself when I graduated, I went from packing shelves during uni to a graduate chemical engineer at a copper mine making $130k (Aussie mining industry). I know you're probably excited at the fact that your life really seems to be going on track, you feel like you're attaining measurable success. I felt that too, I was excited to tell people about my job, not because I wanted to brag but because the sacrifice I put in was starting to pay off.

What I will say is that money isn't everything, you'll probably say to yourself that you know this but if you were anything like I was then you won't fully understand this. It may take you some years to come to this realisation but experiences shape who you are, not what your income is. I'm not saying go blow $10k on a travel trip right now, but honestly if I was you I'd maybe do a $2k 1-2 month backpacking trip in SEA. Worst case scenario you realise that you really didn't like travel, but you'll still come back with some new experiences and stories that you'll talk about in years to come. Congrats on your job and everything but really make use of your youth and try new things mate.

Problem is user that she won't make 200k before quitting to be a full time mom. Jesus just do the math, she gets out at 27. She's going to want to have a baby basically immediately. You might get 5 years of work out of her, best possible case, before she partially or fully retires. Meanwhile, all her debt is still going to be compounding and fucking you in the ass.

Is she going MD or DO? Because MD you are double-fucked. What specialization, also? You said 6 years from now she'll be out (so actually she'll be 28, jeez, fucked) so I'm guessing like an internist? Pediatrics? She's going to clear 130 for like 3 years, then drop to part time, pulling about 65, then nada.

33 year old married user, I'm very disappointed in all of you.

>Once she’s a doctor she will leave you as you are now socially under her
In order:
>False
>You're a dick
>If true, bullet dodged.

Why would you want to spend your life with someone who cares about status that hard, rather than someone who actually cares about you?

>Caring what people will think about you when you're middle aged
ngmi

You're trying too hard. If you see your relationship as a competition, you're setting up your relationship to be adversarial. Formula for happiness: it's you and her versus life's bullshit, competing is a great way to make somebody feel like a loser.

>Disliking modern neoliberalism
>Calling it degeneracy

You live in the literal most prosperous era on every metric worth a shit, and live in an era of unmatched peace and health. Open borders and extensive trade have given you everything you own at the cheapest prices and with the greatest variety in history.

I'm legit interested. What's your beef with easy travel?

>He believes "women don’t use logic when making decision"

I'm sure your romantic life is going well with attitudes like this, user

You make 600 an hour doing shit like that because your work is piecemeal and random. Jobs in specific niches are boring and hard. Furthermore it is unlikely you will, as a Jow Forums user and engineer, be comfortable being outgoing and rustling up consultancy clients.

It does not. Multiplying by 52 shows that would roughly a million dollar salary. It is remarkably unlikely at those rates there wouldn't be more takers. The underlying catch is you'll get hired for, say, 16 hours a month, and look for clients the remainder, netting a reasonable-ish 100k.

>Assuming women magically get pregnant
Even if they did, abortion is legal, and no way is a "power couple" doctor giving up her work for a child.

This. All "Cringe" is cringe.

Attached: socially dawkward.jpg (193x193, 8K)

Honestly traveling the world to get new perspectives or having some moving spiritual experience is a meme. Travel is first and foremost something you should do when you have the funds to do so. Don't listen to people telling you that you won't have time to travel when you're older, if you have the desire, you will find time for anything.
The most important thing to do when you plan to travel imo is to do what you want to do, pick a place you are interested in seeing and not one everyone says you should see. Too many people travel to meme locations they don't even really like or care about to waste all their money doing tourist shit only so they can brag about it on social media and pretend like it was a life changing experience.
Go to a place you have a passionate interest in, like skiing? Go to Aspen. Do you love ancient Roman architecture and history? Head to Rome. The point is to make it your experience and not some generic experience everyone else thinks you should have. There's absolutely no reason you have to go to every single "unique" destination in the world if you don't feel much of an interest in seeing it. Don't let broke retards shame you into thinking you're going to regret it or that you're missing out on some grandiose life changing experience just because you had no interest in seeing the Eiffel Tower (just an example). Travel should be fun and interesting not a contest or a burdensome obligation. Unfortunately people try to make the experience of travel into the latter. Youre making good money now, that's the most important, save up for a travel funds and go when you feel the time is right, no rush. Hope everything works out with your girlfriend and good luck OP!

fuck you white cuck

>Go to a place you have a passionate interest in, like skiing? Go to Aspen.
>pick THE most expensive town to ski in, in the most expensive state to ski in
Even in Colorado there are mountains to ski down that cost an order of magnitude less because they aren't cushy tourist traps

I'm sure you're going to shit on Mr. Shekelstein as an Engineer, kek.

Money isn't everything, that much is right. It's also true that you won't be young again. However, if you have no desire to travel, then simply don't and enjoy your money and youth in other ways. I also don't get the traveling meme. I'd much rather spend my money on shit that actually makes me happy like books or expensive food and I don't think it's a worse choice than paying money to take selfies in front of pyramids in Giza.

>tfw come from lower-middle class family
I've never been vacationing or outside of the country. I just stayed home on times off. How much do people save to go traveling for a while and have one of those crazy sexual experience like some anons mentioned?

It's an example you mong

Cant speak for anyone else, but I quit my retail job after college and took 6 weeks traveling across the country solo, camping and sleeping in my car and...

it was definitely the best experience I had. It wasnt about the national parks and amazing landscapes, the people I met, the cool experiences I had... it was the freedom and independence that did it. Even just taking those first steps out the door and getting into my fully packed car, leaving the driveway, I already felt like a much larger version of myself. Most people dont get to spend a week by themselves, let alone 6 camping in nature and wilderness. It changes you. I feel more... solid. Less affected. Problems seem less significant than before. Its something id like to do again for sure.
