The idea that a minor medical emergency shouldn't bankrupt someone and destroy their life is only controversial in your country.

The majority should suffer higher premiums and copays so the minority can get free gibs.

The idea that an official declares himself a female to be uncontested about his contention with abortion laws is allowed in your country.

Adverse selection in health insurance

Suppose an insurance firm offered health insurance to the general public. It is likely to have the highest take-up rate amongst unhealthy people – people who don’t exercise, people who smoke. They are the group most likely to need health care; therefore, it makes sense for them to take out insurance. Healthy people are less likely to take out health insurance – if the price of health insurance is determined by the average unhealthy person.

If insurance premiums are based on the needs of smokers, then the premiums will be high. Therefore, there is no incentive for healthy people to take out the insurance.

Costs $900B and is considered mandatory expenditure. Military is $600B, is all around the world, and is discretionary spending.

Barry O'Sullivan is a joke and his party is crumbling around him. And nobody took him seriously.
I thought your country was all about that free speech though? Why should we censor a politician?

If you were to be a fly on the wall at the hospital for two days you would lose your mind. Here are things you regularly pay for. These account for easily 90% of dollars being spent.
1. 400 Lb person having beetus leg chopped off at foot, 6 months later at knee, 6 months later entire leg. The entire time they eat cheetohs PROVIDED BY THE HOSPITAL.
2. Drug addicts that want a fix. They are given benzos, narcos, etc. plus food and board (20K a night) for 3-5 days or until they are bored and leave. They come back or go do the same thing at another hospital a month later or less
3. More beetus patients. THEY ALL are given pudding and pure sugar while at the hospital and average treatments run easily for $30K for each time they are hospitalized

Then there is the environment.
1. You are allowed to do anything and everything you could think of to ruin your health DURING YOUR VISIT with no consequences. Leave to smoke cigs, eat donuts, doesn't matter.
2. Doctors DISCOURAGED and even get in trouble for trying to improve people's life habits. The norm is to treat and that is it.
3. The food at the hospital for everyone including workers is LITERAL GAS STATION TIER.

On and on. Redpill on Obamacare? You are paying for the fattest sacks of shit that exist to live a little longer while they do absolutely nothing to help themselves.

In Colorado, a silver plan will cost me about $15k upfront with a 5,000 deductible. They call this affordable.

>The idea that a minor medical emergency shouldn't bankrupt someone and destroy their life is only controversial in your country.

Except that the average deductible for working class people under Obamacare was $10000 and the monthly premiums were anywhere between $800.00 a month and $1000.00 a month.
No working class family could AFFORD to have a medical emergency because they were too busy paying for Obamacare. The average American home cannot afford to pay $10000 in medical bills before their insurance kicks in, much less pay what was equivalent to a second mortgage on a house simply to have the right to not use their medical insurance cause they couldn't afford to.

Topkek. They did some total political shenanigans and protected the shithole Obama came from and the model of Obama care state from premium rises. Gotta love how the scheming never fucking ends.

Ever heard of a bail-in instead of a bail-out?

Well i was a paramedic. This is what i noticed.

We go from one ambulance at the border crossing to 3.

Illegals get free Drivers licenses thanks to Obama

Illegals and homeless and poor people call ambulances cause they dont want to wait in line in the er

Er is over packed, illegLs and homeless dont pay their bills, now everyone is suprised premiums go up

Why are people so surprised that degenerate scum dont pay their bills.... shocking

From a healthcare practitioner view its terrible and will only go down in coverage and up in price.

My mistake, I saw IN as IL at a glance. My final comment still stands as your article shows.

the obamacare tax prevented young people from saving up for houses (or at least made it extremely difficult) and directly lead to the issue we have today with so many 25-35 year olds not owning a home.
it was a compounding failure that will lead to a large chunk of our population not being able to retire "on time".

Caused a wave of part time jobs.

So where goes the line between being able to get gibs from obamacare and not? I mean the idea is affordable healthcare for the most insecure classes, is it not?

Free speech of course!
Let's be honest though, is this a free speech issue? Or a nation in lunacy?

If you are worthless and don't contribute at all to society, you get Obamacare. If you work at all, then you are raped endlessly and your bills never end.

I tell people to simply not pay. There is no enforcement mechanism to make you pay your debts. Look it up. Literally you don't have to pay anyone you owe and there are no real consequences. t. when I've witnessed people do this for years.

All I can offer is my own story. I saw Pelosi on the floor of Congress saying 'we can find out what is in the bill once we pass it". I had middle-level health care through my employer for $110 a month, and never used it, but had it. After Obamacare, the premiums went to $330 a month and I could no longer afford it. I went to the broken ass site to sign up for the "free" stuff, and it wanted full access to my bank account to complete. I heard horror stories of people's entire accounts getting wiped out because of a "glitch" that charged them the full year's amount at once.
I have gone five years without any health insurance because the premiums are so high, to pay for the poor people's health insurance. Poor people without a job have better health insurance than I do. It is a "share" type scam, where you pay for the groups' sickest, even if you never use it.
Scam.

actually that graph can be completely explained by demographics

Wait, so illegals were covered by Obamacare? And the money that covers their health insurance Comes from the American Taxpayers?

>try to sign up online in my state
>they use a credit agency to verify your identity
>don’t have a credit score
>they can’t verify my identity
>have to mail the state health department a picture of my ID so i can set up an online account

What the fuck? I pay state taxes and the state can’t verify my identity? I have a valid drivers license as well. But the best way they can think to verify my identity is to see if I’m in debt to a corporation?

Simple, if you are uber poor your're good! If you are rich, you're good! However, if you are like the majority of Americans who actually bust their asses for a living you are fucked.

Remove the layer between doctors and patients. Back in the 60's you would pay $5-$10 for an office visit. No fucking insurance to worry about. If you needed a major surgery it was priced at cost + a little profit. So a surgery didn't cost $200,000, it would cost maybe $2,000. Ever hear of the "charge master"?

Wait, we only spend twice as much as the average Europoor?

If Americans weren't subsidizing $200 billion in medical research every year, there wouldn't be a difference.

This is truly /thread and also /HealthcareDebate.

Pre Obama: $75/month $1000 deductible $30 doctor visits whenever I needed one

Post Obama: $185/month $5000 deductible with only two $35 doctor visits per year

The rage I feel when I hear someone say "now everyone can afford health insurance :^)"

>everyone
They mean bums and losers user. Productive people are of no concern as far as healthcare is concerned. They want to saddle you with a 400 lb beetus having bum so you can never get ahead.

I haven’t had health insurance for the last 26 years.. since I left home at 17. Healthcare is cheaper if you pay with cash.

Useless sick do nothing for society people get really cheap healthcare costs.
Healthy working peoples healthcare costs go up 400% so that they can pay for the lazy non working people.
A law is in place that everyone must pay, even if your 100% healthy and take care of yourself and your family never needs doctors.

$200 billion would only enough to account for about a quarter of the difference. like i said in , it's just a matter of demographics

Huge tax increase to pay for the leeches that were too irresponsible to pay for their own insurance.

Based and redpilled unironically

Obamacare made it more difficult to afford healthcare by raising premiums and deductibles to the point where many had to make the choice between seeing a doctor or paying for insurance.

It also fucked with a lot of jobs by making it so businesses couldn't hire people for more than 40 hours a week because they'd then be required to provide them insurance, which meant a lot of people were forced into part time jobs.

Even the Democrats largely recognize the system is worthless. The idea behind it is to require everyone to get insurance so that the costs are spread around, leading to lower insurance premiums for the group, the problem with that is most people couldn't afford healthcare to begin with so when you started trying to get everyone into using insurance you suddenly had the costs sky rocket. What the Democrats try instead defending is the subsidies to insurance companies that they delude themselves into thinking are acting as bribes to keep the premiums from going even higher, plus they like that Obamacare expanded medicare to more people.

It's part of why they push medicare for all, they know Obamacare doesn't work and primarily liked the idea of expanding medicare more and more until everyone is under it.

Illegals cannot get healthcare coverage. There are exceptions in Oregon (all poor children), New York (children and pregnant women), and California (children), but none of them allow illegals to have full coverage.

Illegals still get free healthcare. Private hospitals are legally obligated to treat all critically ill patients. Public hospitals are required to treat ALL patients that walk through the door. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it would be better with a border wall.

ftw no simple logical answers, Im starting to respect obamacare

health care was a lot cheaper before Obamacare.

Found the unemployed diabetic posting while using the free McD's wifi from the drive through line.

Gas-stations have decent food in Pennsylvania.
>the term you want is “gutter-oil food”

Now that they took the fucking fine away, I don’t care. It’s too expensive to justify though. I recently tried signing up like last week, and was quoted around 350 bucks a month. I’m 27 year old white male in good health. There’s no fucking way I’m forking that money over.

>Gas-stations have decent food in Pennsylvania.
Talking about Sheetz? Or whatever it is. I've spent significant time in PA. They have a higher level of food than hospitals in Sheetz. But that's BARELY and it makes my point.

HOWEVER, you will fucking die early eating that food brother. Don't fool yourself.

MD Here, let me explain:
Obamacare is nothin more than rebranded Medicaid
I checked premiums for myself and the shit bronze plan would cost me more than my private Anthem PPO
Only people who can "afford" Obamacare are so poor they would also qualify for medicaid(so they would not be without insurance
We(and almost every other doc in town) didn't accept Obamacare because we already had the max amount of medicaid patients we could afford to see
people are screaming about losing "health insurance" when all they actually got was a insurance card that was useless
people screaming that people are dying when they had medicaid before Obamacare and will go right back on medicaid when bullshit care is gone

Any fucking questions?

If the ACA was supposed to be free healthcare for all, how come we have to buy insurance?
On that matter, why was it mandated to buy insurance punishable by a fee(tax) if you didn't?
After the ACA was signed into law, Why is there insurance policies for medical? Shouldn't that have eliminated the need for insurance?
>Sounds to me like this was a scam to make the insurance companies money.
>Follow the money; who underwrites the insurance providers?

Obamacare was designed to steal money from working Americans and give it to the pharmaceutical companies. 60% of all premium costs are for prescriptions, and Rx coverage is MANDATORY whether you need drugs or not.

Also if you are a make, you pay for maternity care. Obamacare was supposed to create larger pools to mitigate adverse selection. All it did was drive prices up to the point where any subsidies that made it "affordable" don't matter anymore...it's too expensive even with help from the government. It's a total failure from soup to nuts, unless you are big pharma.

So they cut my wife's hours to under 30 than razed our health insurance to 1600 a month. we actually have to pay her employer 100 bucks a month to make up the difference. Its fucking slavery.

insurance companies trying to force people to buy their products through force of federal law.

It has nothing to do with healthcare, it's just evil business practices.

It's actually not that bad of deal. $75 a month gets me $500 deductible and $30 copay. They take my tax return, but I haven't seen that in years anyway. Just had to switch doctors is the real problem.

You can keep your doctor if you like him. Just can't switch!

This. I was gonna say it myself, but the greatest threat to American health isn't technology or policy or even environment, it is the shitty habits of Americans. The greatest costs and causes of death are almost all self-inflicted.

Except Obama care doesn't help any of that.

Buy insurance or pay a tax.
Pay taxes or go to jail goy.

The medical industry encourages this behavior. In sane medical field, a stay at the hospital would be an educational experience on how to eat right and take care of yourself. They go out of their way to feed people pudding while they are there.

>be sick
>pay $350 a month for insurance even though not working
>obamacare.exe
>now pay $850 a month
>fuckthis.jpg
>get on medicaid

>get on medicaid
And now we come to the actual point of Obamacare. A stepping stone towards what they have always really wanted.

Obamacare is a scam for further wealth redistribution.
They tricked old people into loving the ACA and changes to medicare / medicade by essentially giving them free health care.
However, the government will charge people for all these services at the bull shit fake and inflated insurance company cost of doing things (the amount that insurance companies put on the bill is like >10x what they end up paying).
They recover the cost by putting a lien on people who use the services property, a lien at 10x what the cost should be.
All of their inheritance is then taking by the government and given to subsidiaries of the health insurance company to be resold.

They threw in a trick to steal even more from accumulated wealth.
