That doesn't address the issue of salinity for the freshwater fish. I'll grant you that freshwater "lakes" have been found in incredibly deep parts of the ocean where water and air pressure allow for such anomalies to happen, but it doesn't seem very likely to happen withing 40 days and 40 nights.
