He definitely wasn't portuguese, never seen anyone with those beady eyes.

this is serious thread, please be serious here

He fell from a chair and died thats all i know about him, i dont care enough about the subject. Lies or not

Was brought up poor and he died poor,he cared for his people but the way he decided to protect us was a bit too extreme particularly the paranoia that PIDE (our secret police) instilled in to our people,as it's existence created a divide among people. He wasn't a fascist unlike what a lot of people believe, but he was inspired by fascism and corporatism. He was against commies and against capitalists(for the most part),he tried to maintain our colonies by claiming that they were an extended part of our country, but even then black weren't really considered portuguese, and he fixed our massive illiteracy rate and was responsible by our period of greatest economic growth since we overthrew our economy.

*overthrew our monarchy

overthrowing the monarchy was dumb and not based or redpilled

The jews wanted a corrupt republic,so they got one,the amount of influence they got in the country after the collapse of the monarchy was ridiculous.

He was not a fascist. Thats the main misunderstanding people have about him.

overall B+R?

I don't know him.
But I always heard He was the Portugal's Franco.
And Franco was good.
He sent help to Franco in the war. A totally bro.

Yeah,he was flawed but he tried his best.

Reminder that Salazar's office was riddled with jews and Freemasons.

That is false
He fell in bath

A true national hero and an immortal icon that gave everything up for his country. He was the latest Great Portugueseman although hopefully not the last. May he RIP.

(OP)
He was not without flaws but he was a patriot. Had an unquestionable love for his country, was a brilliant Law student (still holds the top rank in Coimbra if I recall correctly), was staunchly Catholic and particularly devoted to Our Lady and women were his secret vice. He came from a very humble background and sought to be an example for others. Despite what /pt/ would have you think, he declared through his Ministers that racism was unpatriotic which was something that made a whole lot of sense. He was a builder and modernized most of the country's infrastructure (roads that would later be used by the socialists to drain the interior towards the bigger urban centers sadly). His protectionism and isolationist policies were somewhat questionable but during his time there was no lack of gold and his plan was to make Portugal "Switzerland by the sea". Probably his worst crime was the censorship, though truth be told that he was combating illiteracy with great success at the time, surely one of our greatest flaws as a nation, and communists preyed on the ignorant.

All in all, Salazar was not the flawless leader that some paint him as but neither was he a monstrous autocrat. He was a patriot and he was wrong some times but all he wanted was Deus, Pátria e Familia, exactly in that order.

Stop noticing things goys. Next thing you know you are going to say that there were many jews and freemasons in positions of power after the fall of the monarchy.

Salazar unfortunately rejected fascism but many consider him a third positionists for his corporatist policies.

Hey Portufags. I might be moving to Lisbon in the new year. How easy/hard is it to get medical marijuana there?

Portugestan being themselves, there's little unique in this figures. Countries operate more or less the same.

definitely interested in hearing more about this
bump

Here is a speech subbed in English if you want.

The Portuguese Republic? A masonic project?? Please say it ain't so.

He was clearly a third positionist at the very least.

[Moisés] influenced more Salazar than him to Moisés - Jewess
----
holocaustremembrance.com/publications/bystanders-rescuers-or-perpetrators-neutral-countries-and-shoah
>This was because Jewish community leaders, above
all the community’s president, Moisés Amzalak, identified with the regime
and because they were citizens. The regime’s attitude toward Jews depended
not on their religious or national affiliation, but on their legal and civil status
in Portugal.
>Lisbon—A Hub of Jewish Activity
>Unlike Spain, Portugal allowed Jewish organizations to operate on its
soil in order to aid refugees in transit and Jews trapped in German-occupied
countries. For this reason, Portugal became an important hub of
Jewish activity among the neutral countries, second only to Geneva.

they must and will go back

>Salazar informed his Berlin legation that a Portuguese Jew of high standing had presented,
>The Portuguese Jew of “high standing” was Moisés Amzalak, president of the Lisbon Jewish Community.
The problem ain't Salazar himself, this peninsula is cursed since the first pharisee put their feet in this land.

Where is the problem? Portugal used to have 10% of population comprimising of blacks.

he was one of the best things to happen in this country, he set our country on the right path back then and Im grateful for that.

Come on guys give me the scoop. Is medical weed gonna be big business over there now?

Medical is already legal but has an incomplete framework. What we're trying to legalise now is recreational use. It's pretty much a nonissue and just a proposal that leftists (literal communists) use to entice the electorate come the next elections. Regarding it being big business or not, I'm absolutely certain that the mafia already has business models in place to capitalise on the legalisation if it ever comes to pass. Really unfortunate.
