You seem to forget that I have to live all year round. How the hell will a summer job that pays 10-14/hr going to pay for anything? Rent is 1000 for a single bedroom, plus 150 for PIP/Liability for my shitwaggon. Another 300 for food, 150 for internet, phone, Netflix ect. Insurance is 150 every other payday, so another 300. After taxes I got maybe 200 dollars to spend on getting shampoo, trash bags, gas. I didn't even mention the 440 dollar student loan payment.

Let's be straightforward and assume (the high salary of) $8/hr. 8*40=320. That's what you make in a week. 2 months = roughly 8 weeks. 8*320=2560. That'll cover living expenses for like 2 months, less than 3. You're living in a fantasy world if you think working over the summer solves the problem for a whole year.
In order to get above $10/hr around here, you must have a college degree. It's insane. $12+ requires years of experience in addition to a 4 year degree. Most positions near $20 I've seen require a masters degree.
