No - this is tactically unwise. It will bring so much international condemnation that the country trying to do this will weaken its economy to the point where it will be more difficult for it to operate. Even the USA, the world's superpower, will be affected by this.
Deportation is much more effective. It's moral. It will protect the economy of the country practicing it by not isolating them on the world stage. It's easier to hire the necessary people to conduct deportations (it's difficult to find enough highly qualified people to conduct mass murder).
It might even be easier to conduct mass deportations - especially if an earlier stage allowed for voluntary emigration. Even incentivized voluntary emigration, paying people to leave. It would cost a tiny fraction of what it currently costs to keep them and their ever expanding progeny on welfare. And many people would find it difficult to pass up a considerable lump sum, they would gladly take it and start a life somewhere else with the money.
You might only have to deal with a much smaller group, maybe a handful of stubborn / dumb people who refused to leave despite the money offer. It would make the deportation stage much easier.
Boats are the most sensible option for mass deportation. Pic related is one idea, you could transport one million people PER VOYAGE with a convoy of 14 cargo ships, with the shipping containers cheaply retrofitted into temporary living quarters (as many people are doing now with shipping containers). Then these could be dropped off the form the new shelters for the deportees once they are dropped off.

One thing that works well is to buy your meat sources in bulk for 2 reasons: lower cost per meal and faster easier long term planning.
Decide on some amount you want to eat per day for lunch and dinner, buy it in bulk (ideally on sale), slice it up into small pieces for easy dividing and cook it all at once on sheets. Then weight out the desired amount and put them in small plastic bags and throw them in the freezer. Now you have exactly the right amount of food, for a very low cost, pre-cooked, frozen so you don't have to worry about it going bad, and in small portions that are easy to thaw.
For example you could buy 4 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breasts, slice the raw breasts into small strips, toss them in spices in a bowl (smaller pieces means more surface area for spice flavor) then bake them in the oven at 400 F for ~20 mins. Then portion it all out into bags and freeze them.
You don't even have to microwave them to thaw them out, if you pull out one new bag each day from the freezer to the fridge it will be evenly thawed and safe to eat the next day. You can also bring a frozen bag for lunch and it should thaw out and be safe to eat by lunch time, no microwave needed.
Add some complex carbs (lentils, chickpeas, oats, etc) to this and some chopped vegetables and you should have a good nutritious meal for really cheap. You can buy the chickpeas or complex carb source canned to make it really easy, or cook up batches of them every 5 days or so.
Keep stuff you don't plan on eating out of your house, it's easier to resist that way. It takes way more effort to go to the store to buy junk food than it does to just walk to your kitchen if the junk food is there. Keep it out of the house.
For healthy fat sources, this might sound autistic but counting and portioning out almonds in tiny reusable bags works very well. Nuts have really healthy fat but you have to be careful because a surprisingly tiny amount contains a lot of calories. You can buy a fish tackle box and count out the nuts and throw them in, one slot per day / meal. Other good sources of healthy fat are +90% dark chocolate, raw peanut butter, avocados, and fish (though if you're counting calories and macros it's a bit harder with fish than the convenience of counting out almonds or dark chocolate squares but it still works).
