What was the quality of life like in the 90s?

What was the quality of life like in the 90s?

Did people have a better standard of living?

Yes. Money had more buying power. The middle class was in the middle instead of draining to the bottom.

Niggers were not as uppity.

> be 12
> mom takes me to local video store
> rents Vacation and police academy 3
> take a peek on all the violent movies, still remember predator 2 cover
> invite friends over for goldeneye four player later on the day
> end day with playing fotball
Life was comfy as fuck

more disposable income, because prices, taxes, interest rates, housing prices we much, much, much lover.

It all changed.

No but the music was better.

It was ok but escalated into shit pretty fast.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 103K)

Your money was worth more so you could load up a cart of groceries for less.

Niggers weren't as uppity
Less muslims, middle East kept to itself
Less LGBT and pedophilia shit
Porn wasn't as big of a problem
Less THOTs
Middle class had money
White people weren't called evil every day
Less divorce
Less infidelity
Slut culture wasn't a thing
Rape culture wasn't a thing
Me too wasn't a thing
Nuclear Familys were considered the gold standard and looked up to
Less immigrants around in general
We used to be able to leave cars and doors unlocked
White people around the world all had their own unique cultures instead of one global homogeneous bullshit culture

:(

I am crying

This

Not with $3 rewind fees are you fucking kidding?

...

Absolutely shit was much better. Welfare was taken away and blacks were effectively to take care of their children.

We also had some neat video games and music around that time too.

And this social justice crap was much less prominent then than now.

Housing costs much cheaper. Fuel cheaper. Food cheaper. Entertainment way, way cheap. You could go out every night and have fun and not go broke. People were polite and nicer, politics never discussed in polite company. You respected other people's opinions, and you didn't hate anyone who had a different viewpoint. Music was good. Movies and TV, too. Books and newspapers were much more important in everyday life. The news media tried hard to present different viewpoints and appear unbiased. Women weren't completewhores. Men were men. Trannies were viewed as the mentally ill freaks that they are. Gays were tolerated, but expected to keep that shit private. Fatties were openly and aggressively shamed, so people at least tried to stay slim. Medical expenses were reasonable. Much less illegals and useless "immigrants".

That is just off the top if my head. Life was better. And it was even better pre-1990's. I feel sorry for people born after 1995. You all didn't get to experience a pretty decent world.

Those were all there festering waiting for their moment, you act like sticking your head in the ground will make these problems go away.

SORRY NO IT TAKES ACTION

Blockbuster is fucking shit I'm glad they're gone.

I miss the family going together to our local rental store. It was fun picking out an NES game while the parents grabbed a VHS of some movie. Something about the family experience was very wholesome. Also my friends and I rode bikes everywhere. I rarely see kids riding their bikes anymore.

Much better in nearly all aspects.
We have the internet now, did then but nowhere near as useful, which hasade people lazy and cemented misinformation.
I was fitter, happier, life was good and the only worries were socialism getting into power, i.e British labour. Whether a minimum wage is a good idea and if the tube would strike as often. Maybe the hot discussions were the fishing industry failing or getting a job, to get that foot in the door.
Now I have no idea if anything is worth it anymore. The world is a far worse place and despite socialism coming in and the minimum wage life was still good until that fateful day in September 2001.

I will never let the Muslim in. Even if it means war. Even if it means the destruction of my family, town, country or creed. An industrial murder of 1.8bn people or all out nuclear suicide of humanity. That's my direction now. MGTOW and Timonism.

Everyone was more content. It was like a mid stretch of a marathon while today is a mad dash to the finish.

I'm only in my 30s but most of the older people I have known or know have said the 90s were the last glimmer of the America they knew, albeit it was no Camelot. I never lived in the 1950s or 1960s. I do not know what it means for cities to have spontaneous parades with costume pageants, the staccato of candy hitting the pavement as children rushed to pluck tootsie rolls and bazooka from the sidewalk. I have no idea what ferrous sulfate smells like and I am constantly surprised to hear that America's roughest towns--yes, even Detroit and Cleveland--had real prosperity and were engines of the American economy.

Anyway, the 90s were my 50s, 60s. The Iron Curtain pre-figured things in 89 or so. Life was really good. Everything is prohibitively expensive now. Groceries were cheaper as someone noted. Yes, as others have mentioned, money had a helluva lot more buying power. Higher education was still insane, perhaps even more insane then than now if you can believe it

>Surplus
>Higher Dollar Value with similar minimum wages
>Cheaper products with iron curtain falling and Chinese markets just opening
>Cultural Osmosis was natural in the US without forced corporate cultures pushing SJW agendas

However during this time all the legislation that set us up for the 2008 were passed along with all the Clinton shit, and completely setting up al-qaeda to 9/11 us .

Attached: 1hollywoodhogan.jpg (480x360, 32K)

They were the wonder years. The best fucking time to be alive. 2000s had a couple of fun times but it was pretty much game over by 2007.

Jews weren’t getting people fired from their jobs for having viewpoints that oppose transvestites or other sick shit.

GenX boomer here. The 90s were great for normies and nerds, but not for Jow Forums-tier people. Back then, you could see where things were going, you could see the multiculturalism, the Jewish tricks, the Clintons getting away with everything, etc. If you were already redpilled, the 90s and 2018 are the same shit, different year. It's always been this bad.

>be before Napster and Limewire
>Blockbuster oh yeah
>high school friend worked there
>check out massive amounts of dvd’s for free
>take them home and rip them to my crazy new external hard drive with my new ‘dvd burner’.
>generate massive digital library of every genre of movie

The feels...the feels...

The economy was supposedly better, but you wouldn't be able to tolerate it if you went back now. All humor involved saying something false, and then shouting "NOT!!!" or "Psyche!!!" really loud, then everyone busts up laughing at you.

Attached: qa-YgwN0_400x400.jpg (400x400, 28K)

the music was a lot better

Well nowadays we can watch all of Star Trek in HD on netflix if we bother paying at all. In the 90s people would be shelling out $1000 in VhS tapes for the privilege.

The inverse of this is the economy was so good tens of thousands of people did.

This.
It's heartbreaking how hopeless everything has become in less than 20 years. And the worst aspect of it all: normalfags still refuse to see where we're headed.

Attached: whylive.png (655x509, 28K)

I would trade the cold war and its nuclear threat for today any fucking day of the year.
If I learned one thing it's don't trust foreigners, no matter how you help them (live aid) no matter how much you allow people into your life they will stab you in the back no matter what. All that person needs to see from you is the smallest sign of weakness and he will kick you.
Racism was non existent or to put it simply the odd idiot said the odd idiot thing when intoxicated. Once the sand nigger knocked those buildings down every person who was different smelled weakness. And then proceeded to stab us in the back. And our cunt politicians let them.

>his VCR didnt auto rewind
Whats cuckville like?

The only kids i ever see outside anymore are halfcast niglets, they act like literal baboons. Used to have to drive to the next county to see a nigger.

The only thing that we were propagandized in was to avoid Gangs (G.R.E.A.T.), drugs, (D.A.R.E.), and avoiding cults (Heavens Gate).

Although I wanted to work within in the dotcom boom of the 90s, walmart would have been a better place to work back then. I hear the lamentations of older folks here of this place getting darker over the decades (no thanks in part to Lutherian charity organizations and king nigger obama)

Attached: 20181219_101653.jpg (2560x1440, 1.41M)

America used to watch transvestites on TV and laugh and recoil at the same time, now we fear them ruining our carreers, lives and children.

phones attached to wall
dial-up internet
hercules monochrome
ALSO
decent pay / cost of life ratio
no daily hysteria about bullshit
people seemed more real somehow

I would give anything to go back

This was the only downside, no mass internet adoption meant all information was controlled by the Jews and even though there was still time to save America, no one knew what was happening.

>/pop/ tier people
>90s
Gods i am glad i was too young to be redpilled.
>ruby ridge

And everthing else, id have lost it.

For the last 50years quality of life has been dropping for working and middle class, only ones that get richer now are jews, their ass lickers and corporations.

>we used to be able to leave cars and doors unlocked

You know HAM was a huge thing right? Also gun shows where huge for info trading.

Every weekend my dad took me to blockbuster to rent a movie and get some of that sour spray candy. Good times

The American manufacturing export sector was already shit by then, i.e. the working class was pretty fucked. But you could still get a decent job with a generic college degree.

>little brother spays it in his eyes on the way home by accident.
Every. Fucking. Time.

>All humor involved saying something false, and then shouting "NOT!!!" or "Psyche!!!" really loud, then everyone busts up laughing at you

Yes, everything was cheap as fuck and people were full of hope. Everybody was talking about how great the future will be and this 70 years of nightmare has ended.

Gun shows were massive in the 90s during the Clinton years. I used to go with my grandpa. I still go with him, but he can't walk well anymore, and the shows are full of bitches selling candles and jewelry and shit.

>that sour spray candy
s-stop
>cries uncontrollably

What was life like in 2037? Asking for a friend.

Backstreet boys, britney spears, christina aguilera, 98 degrees, nsync, spice girls... those were the good ol days.

And they were all white.

God i miss this

>implying September 11 meant shit in countries outside America
The post 1997 90s didn't end until January 1 2004 in non American countries and anyone who disagrees is a 90s kid larper faggot

consumer confidence was higher
people liked their tamagochi and firbys
Pantera was touring all over the place
Fresh prince was the shit
niggas was just happy as fuck in the 90s

god, my heart fractured a little from reading that.

The most noteable day to day difference is social media. Alot of people didn't use social media at all. And no one really used it to the extent it's used now.
Your average people were heavily bound to the physical plane, which you hardly see anymore. People are sucked into their phones

This is all true. And it wasn’t so long ago :(

It was cool. Great music. I was in my 20s. Met my wife at the start of the decade and we had our first kid at the end. In between we fucked like bunnies. Good times.

I’m older but things are better. I have money from a good job and have a nice home. Our oldest is in college and our youngest is a freshman in high school. My wife and I still have great sex. Overall our standard of living is much better than what my parents could provide.

I do miss being in my 20s and the music though.

PANTERA WAS THE SHIT
I wish I could've been able to see them live.

I don't know inner cities were absolute shit to the point you would get fucked with / robbed / shot just for being there if you are white. Friend lives in a part of DC that was a legit open air drug market when we were in high school in the 90's.

People always seem to forget this when waxing nostalgic about the era.

>he doesnt venerate KEK or ebolachan

well, the economy WAS strong and we were actually paying down the debt

so life was p good. Home ownership was doing well and prices steadily rising. The regan economy set up the clinton economy. Clinton inhereted gold.

Those two wars turned that shit around and by 2007 everything went to shit and hasnt been the same.

>that feel when when 3am, listening to cowboys from hell whilst working on a hitler biography for english class and CBS news says dimebag is kill
Fugg.

Block buster was stupid and I’m glad it’s gone.

And consumerism don't forget the consumerist lifestyle propaganda of hollywood and advertising.

WE'RE TAKING OVER THIS TOWN!!!!!!!

I miss people saying faggot and calling everything gay, i mean i still do it but i get strange rooms now.

Remember malls?

I came from China and been in one of those 10 floor malls we used to have 25 years ago. Not a single nigger around, all shops open and families having dinner and having fun.

It was fucking expensive desu, we always went to family video, we used to have a blockbuster, two hollywood videos, and three family videos. All three family videos are still in business the others closed over a decade ago.

The mall here, only really has a movie theater left.

There were fewer third-world darkies, so what do you think?

The 90s was the equivalent of a boomer under the covers. Everything is nice and warm. But you didn't pay your electricity bill, and the heat is off, and you didn't pay rent. So you decide to invite Mexicans and Africans in your house for living quarters, but only if they help pay the bill. Oh and you have a daughter in the other room.

>muh dik

shut up jew

i was born in 85. 90's were a great time to be a kid.
i got my first computer in '95 and the internet at the same time. i feel like i was part of the first generation that really grew up on the internet. not that it was really a good thing.

Attached: 1540846581040.png (1000x1046, 1.41M)

I used to get so excited to hear "you have mail" even if it was just some dumb boomer joke from my cousin.
>why is my attractive older cousin sending me whale sperm jokes?

Serious answer here:
Depends what part of the 90's you're thinking of. The early 90's were an extension of the 1980's. I am not saying that to be flippant, either. The Cold War had ended and the threat of nuclear war was gone. The Soviet Union collapsed and we got to see, for the first time in over 50 years, that the Russians were actually cool. My favorite news story from the Soviet collapse was when the old school hard liners decided to fight in the streets and take over the government sector office buildings in Moscow that held all the information that basically ran the country. Mobs were forming and they had blood in their eyes. This was going to be a no-shit-war at any moment and guess what? Fucking biker gangs appeared out of nowhere! The bikers surrounded the building complex and formed a protective ring around the people inside from the people outside. They didn't do this to save the old Soviets, they did it to prevent a civil war from breaking out. It was awesome! Biker gangs to the rescue!

Another example of the early 90's being an extension from the 80's was the First Gulf War. Lots of fucking retards around now yelling "hurrrr...war fer oil...durrr", but if you were around then, it was pretty clear that this was a result of the collapse of Soviet client states. Iraq, Iran, the Stans, a good chunck of the Middle East with the exceptions of Egypt, Israel and to an extent, Jordan, were all Soviet allies or at least clients who owed them shit. As a result, they had huge amounts of exchange, especially military and financial. Sadaam was one of these. And yes, before you go off pissing your pants yelling "but we gave Sadaam shit", yeah, we did, for a short time when he was fighting the Iranians who were holding our people. However, he was a stalwart pro Soviet goon and head of the Ba'ath party (Arab/Persian Socialist party for the uneducated).

>no daily hysteria about bullshit
God i want this so much
Aslo checked.

(Cont)
Anyway, when the USSR went the way of the VHS tape, there was no more money coming in, so Sadman decides to up and invade his rich neighbor, Kuwait. Kuwait was then and is now basically a gigantic gas station. They are small, but have a great port system and an excellent infrastructure to get oil from the land of the sand to the ships. No where else really can compare. If you want to get your oil to the market, you have to go through Kuwait to do it. Sure as shit the Iranians aren't gonna let you, the Yemeni had never really got their shit together like the Kuwaiti did and Bahrain is an island in the middle of a solar cooker known as the Persian Gulf. Good luck getting your oil there. SO Sadaam uses his drug soaked pea brain and gets the cool idea to basically hold up a gas station. He thought that with the Soviets gone, they couldn't say no and that the US and Europe wouldn't do shit. WRONG. The Saudis were scared because Iraq had the largest army in the mid east and the House of Saud is a juicy and obviously next target. SA is an ally of the US (errrrr...mostly) and asked for our help. The Europeans went to the UN and asked for help because all of their oil came from Kuwait (Russia was still a mess and no one bought anything from them yet). So the US was asked to step in and help. And by help, the UN meant do everything. The US helping the Saudi's and putting an airbase there was the introduction to fuck-all crazy motherfuckers to come out of the wood work and claim infidels were invading holy territory. Enter Osama bin-Shittin himself in a cave.

See how this all connects to now. The reason I bring this up is if you look at all the movies and vidya games from that time, guess what they reflect.

Anyway, this was the early 90's.

The 90s were a hopeful time if you were a normie.

You could see things headed towards the full blown degeneracy of the PRESENT YEAR if you paid any attention.

Uh, what? Were you born after year 2000?

The Rodney King riots were legit doomsday SHTF scenarios being played out IRL. Gun battles, fires, looting, everywhere. I would say niggas back in 1992 were real fucking hard compared to 2018 watered down black folk.

pizza pizza!
fucking renting game genie was the shiiiiiiit.
stepping over my friend's little sister's pogs and drinking squeezits on the way out to ride bicycles. awesome.

I see people saying how things like malls went away after September 11th when they were a place teens packed up all the way through 2008. The 2008 crash was when there were far more changes.

(Cont)
As for daily life back in the States, it was really different from now. The internet was there, but primitive. Chat boards and BBS were what nerds did in their computer rooms, the PCs at the time were expensive, slow and specialized. If you wanted to write a paper, you could either spend $5000 dollars (no shit, that's how much a system cost then!) and learn how to use a computer from the ground up with a decent word processing program, use a typewriter, or buy a word processor. Not a program, but a machine that looked like a computer, but only basically ran Word. Because of this, the social life was drastically different.

What did we do? We went out. Seriously. We went the fuck out of the house. All the time! Why do you think malls were so popular? Do you believe that everyone wanted to buy cheap ass poorly made over priced bullshit? Of course not. The malls were the social media of the time. I would spend hours and hours at malls meeting friends, hearing rumors, meeting other kids, scoping out potential girlfriends, dating, seeing movies, eating junk food, etc. What we do online now is what we did at malls in the 80's and 90's (early to mid 90's at least--before the internet really took off as a thing that everyone used). The malls had all the advantages you needed. They were clean, indoors, had food, bathrooms, stores that were specialized enough to attract specific groups, things to do, centralized locations, etc. For example, I can tell you for a fact that places like Jow Forums and /b/ would be in a mall game store. The arcade would be the /vg/, the video store would be /a/, sporting goods would be Jow Forums, etc. This is what we did when we went out and it was fun!

Here is a link to a site that has examples of what that looked like: refinery29.com/en-us/20-scenes-from-a-mall-in-1990

Mid-2000s post-punk revivalism is the last time I remember white music being anywhere near the mainstream charts.

>go to blockbuster
>rent ps2 games
>take them home
>neroburningrom
>return games saying they didn't work
rinse and repeat until bankrupt

Early 90s were comfy.

>Gulf War redeemed the US from the sins of the Vietnam.
>Cold War ended, undisputed proof communism was a failure, American commie left eternally btfo
>Russians turn out to be pretty chill, just as glad to see the war end.
>lots of feel good 'give peace a chance vibes'.
>ballad rock was still going strong.
>everything felt good.

The toys were great too, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and the like. Pokemon cards at the end of the decade, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, followed by Playstation and N64. Great time to be a kid.

Malls were packed in my area all the way through 2008. They didn't disappear in the late 90s.
