Not true. This is only the case for this year and is due to the van attack and shooting spree they had. Last year, they had 23 murders in total, which is significantly less than the ~290 murders NYC had, even when taking into account the fact that NYC only has 3 times the population of toronto.
They are not even close. This year is an anomaly, and btw, NYC's 290 murders were a record low, and they are still significantly higher than Toronto's. Not that I care about toronto.
