I have gauged ears stretched to 1.5 inches. I was considering getting reconstructive surgery to get normal looking ears so I can appear more professional and further my career. I deal with homeowners on a day to day basis and I'm pretty much the face of the company. This is the career I have chosen so switching is not an option. Also if I switch companies, it is very unlikely I will get a promotion in order to stop being the face of a company. I really enjoy my gauges and my wife pointed out that they are a part of me, but I feel like I will always be the ditch digger if i dont do something to start looking the part. I have tattoos, but most are hidden. I have one on my hand and one behind my ears but tattoos have become more mainstream and people aren't as judgemental anymore, at least about tattoos.
Most people don't seem to care about my ears when I am the one doing the work, but I feel as this is hindering my chances to be the brains, not the hands so to speak.
I was looking for the social consequences of this surgery for people that have had gauges and chopped them off, especially for career purposes.
Someone I once worked with never got leadership position because of a weird tattoo on his palm. HR knew about this and paints him as a bad decision maker. Sadly the higher ups only listened to the HR regardless of his performances.
Different companies different policies I guess.

Snip snip or in they stay bud This is why we all told you it's a bad fuckin idea because you can't UNmake the decision
Lincoln Hernandez
Get the surgery
Nathan Turner
If you feel like getting them snipped, go for it. It's a super quick and easy thing and shouldn't cost you much. It will leave scars for sure, but those will be a lot less noticeable than the gauges.
Henry Gray
Fucking retard.
Ryan Ortiz
lmao fucking millennial boomer
Sebastian Ramirez
Tats i can get past pretty easily, but large gagues just scream angry teenager. I wouldnt trust you enough to do business with you beyond ordering tacos.
So either use the smallest gauge that fits and choose a very subtle material like a simple dark wood, or get the surgery.
Brandon Rodriguez
>gets faggy ear gauges >regrets them because people wont take him seriously anymore Pure poetry. Try being yourself in the future and not just some follower.
Hear me out to the end, ok? You have two options. Do or don't. Now, while you have those, they both branch off into others. Let's focus on "don't", because you can figure out "do" by yourself.
1- Get some NICE custom jewelery. Titanium, Silver, Gold. Whatever. Make it have a nice, classy design in it. A mosaic pattern or sonething nice to look at. Maybe a gemtone suspended in the ring. 2- Start wearing suits or other higher end clothes that compliment color of the metal. White metal? Black suit. Niobium? White or red suit. You're going for "businessman with modifications" here. 3- The way you present yourself must be different. You are not just some guy with body mods, you are a professional with modifications. Walk with confidence. 4- You can cover up the obvious tattoos with makeup or clothes if you must. Depends on what they are. A rose? Leave it. Something that could be considered obscene? Cover it up somehow. It's on your hand? Draw attention to the other one with a nice shiny ring, or wear a glove.
At the very worst, you go for the "businessman who'll buy your soul" look. It's all in how you present and carry yourself.
your answer is for him to get MORE jewellery? yep i'm sure many CEOs and professionals have the businessmen with modifications look.
Ayden Wood
Better jewelry. As opposed to that plastic mall shit.
Blake Bennett
big fucking gauges will not work in a professional environment even with all the diamonds and shitty gold in the world.
Jeremiah Baker
>businessman with modifications If he wants to be a mall core fashion model, sure, but not even a Barnes & Noble would touch some dumbass with gauges.
Gabriel Adams
I dunno, user. I've seen some very nice looking ones in good establishments. Like fancy medallions, just ear jewellery instead.
I guess it's how we both look at things. I don't judge based on body mods, even if I wouldn't get them myself. Have a nice one.
Angel Bennett
Have you actually seen someone with gauges in a real professional job? Not being a waiter that has to wear a bowtie or a model, I mean a real position of wealth and respect.
Ian Morales
>I was looking for the social consequences of this surgery for people that have had gauges and chopped them off You won't fit in with your fickle social alternative hierarchy once you get rid if that's what you're asking. Lobes post surgery look pretty good and most people can't tell unless you mention it, most employers won't mark you down for having them removed.
Evan Murphy
The removal wouldn't be that noticeable and even then, it would show the employer that he has grown as a person and has become more mature instead of being a trend following teenager.
Brody Rogers
>TL;DR Should I surgically remove my gauged ears?
No, I see cunts like you at my supermarket wageslave job coming in from offices. Tattoos and piercings aren't that much of a detractor these days. Neither is being drunk.
