Hm at this expense rates soon they'll need to recruit more men and train them. Wonder when they'll start to invest in defensive installations and civilian weapons training to resist invaders. Once upon a time, there was a very good reason the USA dreaded the very thought of invading the Japanese Homeland.
Keep in mind anons just how fast Japan went modern and created an Empire. So the fact they are remilitarizing...well it's not to be underestimated.
They've been remilitarizing for a few years now. Don't underestimate the Japs. They've made deals with the US military turning themselves into a de facto Auxillary and regularly train with them. They have been very smart with their plans so far. The only stupid decision of late has been their immigration act.
They were the first ones to pounce on the USA loosening its global grip by offering up their services. US gave them their blessings and accepted the offer. In the long run, this means the USA can withdraw more of its forces and allow Japan to take up the slack. Keep in mind Japan's very strategic positioning, smarts, and willingness to remilitarize.
People keep on talking about China but they overlook the insane amount of economic book cooking they do, how cheap they are even with vital infrastructure, and their catastrophic demographic bomb with males.
Japan though has made very clear they wish to pick up the slack and most important of all they have the USA's blessing to do so. In other words, they have positioned themselves very carefully to swoop in and reap the greatest harvest. Japan is rediscovering its old ambitions and it's more than just rebuilding its military.
Just look into how they much they're investing into aquatic industries and contesting with China over access to ocean resources.
