I think you covered most of why there's this double standard exists in the first place.
Generally it's just men competing with each other, and not wanting their particular type of women to be taken away from them by the competition. Bad enough when your lookalike buddy snags a girl from you, but worse when someone from another "tribe" essentially takes her. Your feeling towards her and him are instinctual, and understandably so.
