I was meditating and I saw an image which later on I understood was my soul, then, that same day, I experienced as if I was one in consciousness with God. The next day I was very happy, that night I dreamed I would go to heaven crowned as a knight or king.

I went on to explore many religions apart from christianity. All fake, but the mystical paths all seemed to agree that this was the divine realization and salvation, so I figured that the mystics of all religions really believed in god outside religion and simply developed a personal relationship.
