Pipeline was a minor reason that brought Qatar into funding ISIS early on. It's not in play anymore, see: Saudi Arabia's blockade of Qatar over a year ago.

Funny thing is he ordered his troops to fire upon Russian troops even though they were our allies. Clark's officers ignore him because they deemed his orders illegal. Ordinarily disobeying a direct order, especially in a combat zone, would be dealt with harshly but none of his officers were punished for refusing his orders. He just has a boner for war with Russia.

1: ISIS was mostly formed from ex-Iraqi Army officers and veteran terrorists funneled from the Libyan civil war. The drawdown didn't create ISIS, Bush's invasion and Obama's intervention did.

2. The Taliban will never, ever go away. It is impossible to defeat them because they are the rural population. It's like the Viet Cong: crush one cell and they'll just pop up somewhere else. We were only there to guard poppies anyway.
