the original term for left wing was for the (violent) revolutionaries who rose up in the french revolution against the elite. the people who sat on the left in the estates generale were the ones sided with the revolutionaries the ones on the right were monarchists.

If you really look at socialism you'd realise it's not a political position but a "theory" (think: fantasy) where it's possible for people to be equal.
If you want two opposing positions you'd go for anarchy(libertarianism) v authoritarianism(something like the USSR but global and even more surveilence).

right wing and left wing are relative terms used to indicate positions on the most important issue of the day. Today that issue is immigration. You are a marxist and so probably are so fixated on economics to realise this but ultimately the terms belong to the largest group that uses them and then refers to what they mean. Hence you can have strong socialist ideology in a nationalist party but it will still be regarded as right wing.
