Just common logic. Being gay is partly genetic -- them not procreating would cut down their numbers. Also, it has always been expected of men and women to procreate. Even today, e.g. in China, one can be "gay" but is still expected to have children and raise a family. In Croatia, most of gay men one can hook up with online and married. In ancient Greece, men fucked around while keeping their wife at home raising their kids and taking care of the household. Etc.
