I started with Liberty or Equality as it was recommended as a similar book to 'Democracy God That Failed', but after reading through all of Erik's works I have to say that Hoppe is second to him in historical analysis. Erik's knowledge combined with his rigor in cladistics of ideas is just amazing (though I do lean on Hoppe's economics more than Erik's). Erik also has amazing footnotes and bibliography/referenced material in footnotes for additional reading outside of the accepted popular books and takes on history and politics. And he is a good writer, really fast and easy to read; clear.
