In other news, just like science fact, science fiction has gone downhill, too. Got the latest Peter F. Hamilton novel for Christmas (Salvation), and boy is it pozzed...
I used to devour his books. This one I cannot stomach. First because he used his Commonwealth novels as a template and it shows (differently named but very similar characters, and very similar technological backdrop - that man is definitely running out of ideas). Second because fucking pronoun bingo! His previous novels were pleasantly heteronormative, as the lefties say. Meaning no fucking fags in there. Zero. Zip. Nil. Nada.
This one's got so called Utopians (right...) living on a planet of their own, changing genders on a regular cycle. And they've got pronouns. Boy do they have pronouns...
And this is not an isolated incident. The other book I got was by Peter Watts (forgot the title already, a novella about a mutiny against the AI on a reefer ship circling the galaxy and opening wormholes). Don't know any of his other books, but this one had, you guessed it, FUCKING TRANNY PRONOUNS, TOO!

Nah. My sample size is small, but I suspect the pozz gets sprinkled in everywhere. The two examples I cited have the distinction of belonging to the ever shrinking space exploration/colonization subgenre (so quite unlike the after-global-warming dystopia).
