the only reason this topic is coming up with frequency now is /ptg/, which is the main contention mainly because of the raw amount of traffic (having to remake threads every 6 minutes at peak times, multiple saged threads in catalog, split threads occurring with frequency).
Only suggestion I would like to see that has a chance of happening is to make a rolling “Trump Thread” (same as other major event stickies; no autosage, last 1000 posts displayed), sticky it, don’t bother moderating it and then delete any iterations of /ptg/ posted outside that thread.
Yeah I know a stickied containment thread isn’t the best solution, but it’s been over two years now with the thread existing (and soon to be in the next election cycle) so it’s obvious the mods don’t plan to delete/offshore it. The rolling sticky at least puts it into a single self-contained thread and at least gets rid of the dumb “baking” culture and split threads clogging up the catalog.
