We've had socialism since 1974. Economy was growing at 6% a year and converging with the rest of the EU. In 1974, it suddenly stopped converging.

Now, we grow the same as Germany and everyone's is seemingly happy, while countries as poor as ours grow twice as fast.

The share of the far-left in Portugal is ~20%. We have a major party unironically named PCP (Partido Comunista Português - Portuguese Communist Party) which has 10% of the votes. The people who vote for the far-left are mostly poor works who just want higher wages and somehow think the government controls that.
