I’ve had my Honda Clarity to 100mph in the blink of an eye (sport mode)...the speedometer seems to stop there but there was lotsa room to go between the pedal & the floor :) I would estimate it’s top end around 130mph???? Just a guess. Around here 75mph is the max speed limit and that’s only on the interstate sooooooooooooooo 100mph even is quite fast enough. I considered a Tesla but the waiting list at the time was 2 years. I also am old enough to remember the DeLorean. Elon Musk is a genius but not the most stable. I believe Tesla is here to stay and I’m interested in their pickup truck so I’ll probably buy one down the road but for now...having owned a 1/2 dozen new Hondas, I felt this was the best way to go. The credits for the Tesla Model 3 are gone...the Honda was $31,900 & I’ll get the full $7,500 credit so that brings it down to approx $25,000 for a very nice EV ride...best deal out there now IMO.

If cells in a laptop or a PV become unbalanced it's pretty bad. If (when) a couple cells become unbalanced in an EV battery pack it's catastrophic.

Battery explosions are far more violent; You're far less likely to get out of that burning EV compared to a burning IC vehicle. Current driving the electric motor has potential to kill as well, so fire crews are reluctant to pry open an EV; responders are given training to handle extractions in an EV crash; put your tools in the wrong spot and the rescue crew will get electrocuted.
EV's battery can only be safely serviced by the manufacturer. The most minor fender bender can turn a car's battery pack into a literal bomb waiting to go off due to shorts between cells.
