Walking though a Catholic college campus in the around 7pm playing Pokémon go. I was met by security within a minute of walking on t campus. He asked if I was a student here and I said no. He said that isn't allowed here and you can't be on campus this is private property. I said this is an open campus. He said the campus is closed and point be to the exit. After I left he followed me down the street in his car and parked to watch me.
I haven't had this issue on this campus before. I've never seen a sign on campus saying private property and nothing the university website.
The next day I called the university with some success. The head of security said that his guys tell that to people who look like they don't belong on campus. He said was right that this is an open campus and following me was to much. But, said I have to give him a break because he has a lot to do right now.
I came back to 2 days and saw that the gyms had been battled in with new pokemon inside. When pulling up to the campus I saw a sheriff's car patrolling the parking lots and the outside public road I was followed on. So I dropped a pokemon in a gym and got the hell out. A day and a half later the pokemon returned to me at 7:30am. Meaning somebody battled in the gym.
I would like to get some opinions on this seeing as I haven't had this problem at any other campus.
They don't want creepy incels hanging out on campus , can't blame em desu
Ian Hall
>I would like to get some opinions on this On what?
Christian Hughes
Open property or not, the owner or controller can decide who comes onto the property and have the right to remove, restrict or prevent certain people from entering providing they do so in accordance with anti-discrimination laws.
Colton Brown
No body is living on campus right now (summer). I've seen people walking dogs and even a old lady sleeping on a bench.
Charles Richardson
>got asked to leave >called up the campus like a total fucking weirdo because I want to play my stupid weeb game for kids >confirm that I could be there but they ask people to leave >I saw a Sherrif >opinions? I simplified your post and still can't figure out what you want advice on, do you think the police are not supposed to be there or something? do you think they were there waiting for you? You want opinions (not advice) because you want to play pokemon, get a grip.
Robert Clark
They would have to show I'm doing something wrong. Kinda like the Starbucks case.
Jacob Scott
>called up the campus like a total fucking weirdo because I want to play my stupid weeb game for kids
How am I a total weirdo when the guy said I was right.
Christian Hall
>How am I a total weirdo See >called up the campus like a total fucking weirdo because I want to play my stupid weeb game for kids You were so upset being asked to leave the area of your precious pokemon game that you went home, searched for a phone number and called asking for the head of security to air your grievance of being asked to leave, because you wanted to play pokemon there. It is weird.
Hold on, are you Christine Weston Chandler?
Jason Morales
Your opinion on whats weird.
And no I'm not Christine Weston Chandler.
Carter Walker
punch that security guard in the mouth and dip lol
or grow up and stop playing pokemon go
Joshua Russell
>Your opinion on whats weird. It is weird, do you see normal, grown men who aren't social outcasts walking about playing pokemon go? no. Are normal, grown men who aren't social outcasts calling campuses to ask if they can play pokemon go there? no Are normal, grown men who aren't social outcasts worrying when they see the police and running to an internet message board asking for opinions then criticising opinions that are shared? no
Angel Williams
What rights are you chasing here exactly? Security can kick you out, that's one of their job duties. If you don't like it, take it up with whoever is above that security guard in the organizational hierarchy there and stop complaining on a mongolian throat singing forum.
Lucas Long
I'm 21 and I've seen 50 and 60 year old, Also you have to be social in the game now for things like raids and trading.
Elijah Bennett
He knows about that detail. He's saying you're still a weirdo for being so persistent for a children's game.
Honestly a grown-up walking onto a campus saying it's for pokemon would set off alerts in the minds of some protective people. Is this what you believe is good for your life?
Leo Torres
2 odd jobs means it is normal. Are you autistic or just hunkering down?
Michael Walker
85% of the people I see playing are 20+. Including a lot of women and even a professor from this college who did a raid with me.
Aiden Edwards
Pokey-man is fucking retarded. I hope they lick you up and butt fuck you until this ridiculous fad is over.
Xavier Powell
Not really. If I own property I can ask you to leave for any reason.
Benjamin Gonzalez
Dude I go to OU transferred from OSU. Either campus is legal for literally anyone ever to walk on including homeless people, who usually avoid campus besides the 24/7 libraries. Next time just say you go there lol. Tell them to mind their own business. Why the fuck did you even speak to a security guard/cop/anything the like, ACAB.
Isaiah Powell
This is the first time an English this broken physically hurt to see for me. Sorry, man. I can't help you because I didn't understand half of that wall of text.
William Scott
He came up to me and stopped me.
Tyler Price
im a lawyer but this fucking autistic story turned me off from giving you any advice
Brandon Perry
An "open campus" is not a legal term - it merely means they welcome legitimate visitors. The fact that they don't accost every single non-student is not relevant.
The only relevant fact is that it IS private property and they therefore have the absolute right to stop anyone (and not stop anyone else) they choose.*
*The one exception to that, in SOME places, is racial profiling.
