Why are people not more considerate of the medical history of their partner before reproducing? Why bring a child into this world with shitty genes prone to certain disorders like diabetes and then act shocked when they get diagnosed one day?
Admittedly this is something I've never thought about until yesterday, but it's a discussion worth having imo. I mean, there's more to consider than just getting along when it comes to raising a child, their health conditions and what they're at risk for should also be acknowledged.
Because the drive to have children isn't rooted in logic. It's ingrained so deeply into us that we genuinely find happiness in bringing a life based on our own into the world.
Bentley Bell
Because that's eugenics. And trying to improve the human race is bad for some reason.
Jason Barnes
Either consciously or subconsciously people are biologically invested to find a healthy partner for reproduction. This is why men generally like women with good boobs and wide, child bearing hips and women like tall strong men who can provide physical protection. That, plus the fact people generally appreciate physical qualities like good skin, a symetrical face, etc.
This is a wild opinion, but it’s very well possble that people who choose to reproduce with partners who have conditions like diabetes might not be on the top of the chart of human existence themselves. In other words, they fuck accordng to their own standards.
Carter Evans
do you think your parents wanted a child that posts on Jow Forums asking why people feel the need to reproduce?
Brayden Green
Why bring a child into this world anyway? There's a solid chance they'll be denied opportunity or harmed over the color of their skin. Is that the world you want for your kids? Or maybe it's the fact that you failed to leave a lasting change so you need your kid to do it for you as a means of imposing yourself on the world.
No, most likely having a kid is just a decision rooted in equal parts horniness and cultural teachings.
Grayson Ward
That makes a lot of sense. >improving the human race is bad for some reason Feelings, what are they good for. Really makes the purpose of reproducing selfish when you put it that way.
Jaxson Nguyen
Because life can be shit or great anyway.
Never met a happy person with diabetuus? I have.
Same goes for most diseases. I said, most. Not all.
Like I had a classmate who was born with one eye only. Her mother had the same deffect. But her sister came out normal. She was actually really happy and normal and guess what. She did feel bad about not having one eye. But what is one eye compared to everything else in ife be it bad or good?
Nothing. Life can be shit anyways and ot will always have shit moments or shit phases. Happy too. Sometimes american soldiers will kill your whole family if you were born muslim. Sometimes you are born a jew and have money but still take xanax every day. Sometimes you areborn a wageslave in a firstworld country. Sometimes on a thirdworld country.
Such is life. Full of shit but sometimes. Shit can have glitter in it if you sacrifice everything you have.
Gavin Brown
Well the difference between us is that I come here to give advice and lurk exclusively on this board while you occassionaly visit here to shitpost when you take 5 from /gif/ and /v/. Woah there Vlad the Implyer, I never said I wanted kids. If I have have 1 (one) it will be when I'm rich I can raise them to be strong and smart enough to brace this cruel world.
Connor Scott
Hehe, “Vlad the implyer”
Hudson Gray
Diabetes is insanely treatable and doesn't say anything about the rest of your genetics.
Isaiah Mitchell
It was the first illness that came to mind while I was writing, I obviously didn't mean why do people with diabetes in particular reproduce.
Nolan Lee
>Vlad the Implier just btw And I know, I'm not saying you want to. I'm saying fuck having kids, there's already so much wrong and throwing a kid into this world just so they can learn about it all seems like a raw fucking deal for the kid. With that in mind, I think it's evident that the choice to have kids isn't always this super-conscious, mediated decision like you're making it out to be. I think a lot of people do it because it happens in the moment or because cultural groupthink tells them it's good and beneficial.
Austin Campbell
baldies need to be fixed like animals you're right we need to just start killing off these genes. we need to think more about the future of humanity and not peoples feelings
we should also end all this rules college is everything bull shit its just making everyone fat and pissed off we should all just be enjoying life and learning professions are we grow up like in the old age. your dad was a blacksmith you're a blacksmith learning to be one growing up then you're a good blacksmith. not take math and science for 12 years decide a career last second decide its not the right one change careers learn everything in 3 years then be stuck in a job you hate for life
yeah dude society is shit i think i should be ruler or something im like a genius wtf why aren't we doing this
Christian Gonzalez
My point still stands. Having one genetic flaw doesn't mean your entire genetic makeup is flawed. It should be called survival of the most opportunistic not survival of the fittest, because the latter implies that someone that makes an adaptation that's superior in a situation must be superior in all other areas too.
We aren't a hivemind. The "greater good" o the species had always been best served through the indulgence and survival of the individual. Only now can we afford to look at it as dynamically as you do, but our biology won't catch up any time soon.
Aiden Barnes
Because they are selfish, naive and/or unaware. I'm from a family in which mental issues and obesity are prevalent and even though I'm trying to beat these issues and become mentally healthy and fit, I know that the risk will be there. Always. In addiction my parents' relationship wasn't healthy and there was a lot of emotional and verbal abuse going on when I was a child, so it's likely that I as a parent will unwittingly subject my child to some of these behaviours. I wouldn't be a good parent, therefore I don't want to have kids. I'd hate myself forever for bringing into this world a child and then failing him or her, or even worse, neglecting and abusing them. It's a human being we are talking about, their fate and life... I don't know how some people can be so flippant about becoming parents.
Ethan Allen
>Really makes the purpose of reproducing selfish when you put it that way. As selfish as you stating what you think is selfish
Hudson Martinez
Reproducing in this day and age is selfish. The earth is becoming overpopulated and it would gratky benefit from less people starting families. If they were conscious and selfless enough to do so.
Not me though, I want kids and grandkids and not to die lonely. Selfish as fuck.
Chase Rivera
I just hate how the world is like OP said where people with genetic diseases can breed and then I look at how miserable everything is like look at Donald trump hes rich but hes such a fat grumpy fuck.
imagine if the world was just do whatever skills your born around and not just go to school and university and get fucking pummeled with unnecessary and irrelevant subjects and then not have any skills you just have an "mba"
Evan Bailey
oh dont do this but I want to sorry. people who are shitty like this guy should be put down too.
