The word "Racism" first turned up in sone guy's book in the early 1900s, but was only given its current use (a slur to shut up those who disagree with you) by Trotsky.
In his book «The History of the Russian Revolution», Leon refers to the patriotic White Russians who fought the Bolsheviks to preserve their culture and way of life as "vile racists" and "backwards Slavophiles" for opposing his oh so utopian communist revolution. (Remember, marxists think that communism is the final stage in human progress, so anyone who doesn't is backwards to them).
Also worthy to note that the use of the word "racism" only took off AFTER Trotsky's book was translated into English in 1932, and only worsened after commies defeated Hitler and infiltrated the West.
