1. The officer class in the UK Armed Forces is distinct from the common soldier. The average common soldier is working class white, the average officer is a member of the upper class or upper middle class, and this section of British society is overwhelmingly neo-liberal and progressive.
2. This recruitment program was almost certainly outsourced to a modern ad agency, which is going to be filled with neo-liberal progressives.
HOWEVER, there is a real push to replace the average soldier in the Western world. The ruling class know that their armies are mostly made up of white, working class, right wing nationalists. When the time comes to put down the native populations with force they cannot rely on this group to do the job. They desperately need to replace the average solider with progressive troops.

I can't really think something like this is truly about recruiting. If I was paranoid I might say that it smells like its designed to induce the response that you have had.
