Not all religions demand you believe unquestioningly. They just say if you don't believe them, then you aren't one of them. Some have a problem with this, some don't. If you disagree with Quakerism on how they interpret Christianity, silence/leaderless worship, and charity, then they say you aren't a Quaker, you're something else. But they won't even make you stop going to Quaker worship, they'll just say you're some other kind of Protestant. In Zen Buddhism they don't even care if you believe the core Zen ideas. Many zen masters don't believe in core concepts like enlightenment and reincarnation. All you have to do to become a zen master is get really good at Zazen (Zen meditation).

Assume that God is real. This has implications for the whole life of a person. Think of christianity. Each day, a believer makes choices that can result in going to heaven or hell. What is the point of believing not-totally? Each religion makes this assumption, so strong beliefs are only logical consequence.
