Why doesn't the US have high-speed rail?

The Japs get bombed to shit, and build fucking bullet trains across their entire country. Meanwhile muh roads are clogged, smelly, steal tax money, and wreak cities. Who's at fault? Jews, niggers, boomers, politicians?

Too poor

It's not cost/effective for big countries

inb4 China

Chinese railways have horroble deficit every year

Because Amerimutts and jump the gates.

Bullet trains are insanely dangerous and the bug people of japan literally don't care about civilians dying. Here people will bitch and moan, there it's different

This fucking goddamn thread again.

Outside of a few locations and cities the distances are too far to justify high-speed rail with plane, bus, and privately owned vehicle infrastructure is already in place. Also, no one wants to be on nigger filled train for any longer than needed.

US doesn't have the best of anything anymore but they do have the biggest military.

Because Japan is a superior culture. America is nothing but a parasite living off european immigration. Since that has largely ended its circling the drain.

The USA is finished for the most part. We have to hitch a ride with Russians to get to the ISS. We can’t do anything anymore. We’re to divided & that’s all about to get worse when Trump is forced from office. We’re in decline and stepping away from the leadership role on the world stage. Our schools are failing, the kids are stupid & obsessed with meaningless pop culture nonsense. It’s over for us.

Because americans love the (((free market))) and High speed trains are only build by the state.

>Who's at fault? Jews, niggers, boomers, politicians?
You pretty much answered your own question, and in order of priority too.

Bullet trains would be very popular here in the US I believe. Not only can they be electric (Mag Lev) etc, but the experience itself is supposedly very pleasant, safer than flying, and a considerable convenience. They aren't quite as fast as an airplane, but who cares when the comfort level can be considerably higher.

Japan total railroad length = 27,268 km
USA total railroad length = 257,722 km (DOWN from 409 km peak)

The US is dead. We will not be getting new, cool things. It's over. The best we can do now is delay total collapse. Gibs, gibs, gibs. Social justice. All that nonsense. All our effort and wealth is spent on trying to survive in this decayed society and system. We won't achieve great things or gain new goodies because our plague is systemic.

Get used to it. Start trying to prepare your personal life for the collapse or becoming Brazil or South Africa. Don't look to ethnically homogeneous societies like Japan and long for what they have, because we will never get that. Multiculturalism precludes us from that. Celebrate diversity instead!

The automotive industry killed it. I wish we had high speed rail.

This. It simply doesn't make sense in a place like the U.S. Flying or driving is cheaper and faster and the ridership levels between large cities that are geographically far don't justify it. In Fagifornia they are trying to build a bullet train but all the foreign consultants that have experience building them bolted as soon as they saw what a clusterfuck it was. The cost projections are astronomical, it will mostly NOT be electrified (Only marginally faster than Amtrak), the route doesn't make sense, the practical obstacles are immense and if it's ever built it will take decades, never operate at a profit and instead lose massive amounts of money while being staffed by public union slobs at taxpayer expense. The U.S is also so corrupt at this point that any large infrastructure project will degenerate into a politically gerrymandered boondoggle and if infrastructure money is going to be spent it should be on our crumbling roads and bridges not fucking monorails to places outside of local metro areas people don't need to go to.

Because we drive cars like normal people.

Japan is a small, linear country.
The US is a vast, rectangular country.
Jets are cheaper in Japan, just as they are here, the Japanese government prioritized trains however because they lack any petroleum resources, they can run the train on electricity which can be generated in any number of different ways, thus rendering the transportation grid of Japan anti-fragile
The US on the other hand has fuckloads of oil and gas resources, and refining capacity, rendering any consideration unnecessary.

The California high speed rail project is a complete clusterfuck of epic proportions. They're using European companies for all the important work, but it's still billions of dollars over-budget with no end date in sight.

"American engineering" is a phrase that should accompanied by a laugh track. This is supposed to be the most tech-savvy state with the best engineers in the world, and you can't do this basic shit that every single other advanced country has.

I had an opportunity to work on this project, but I turned it down when I saw the job had all kind of "climate change" buzzwords in the description. Apparently their doing some diversity bullshit with the fucking high speed rail project, which is intended to inject the spics from down south into the north of the state anyway.

This isn't some kind of isolated incident. American airports are a fucking clusterfuck. You can travel all over Europe seamlessly, the minute you enter America airspace it all goes south. Delays, missing bags, shit-tier infrastructure, mismanagement....it's all there.

what a fucking joke of a country

yep Japan is smaller then some US states.

Forget your memeflag or to change your VPN country location?

>Japs get bombed to shit
Yeah, and afterward they had the chance to build a BRAND NEW rail system. The US rail system is very old and in many places cannot even support high speed trains. Besides, rail is not as efficient as air travel, which has become Americans' preferred travel method.

Last I read most of the foreign consultants bolted when they made the decision to ditch a coastal route (which is most efficient) because of lobbying by inland reps. I haven't kept up recently though. Last time I checked they were proposing to go north through to the central valley which would not only be a steep grade but also present massive practical and logistical challenge in what is a very seismically active region. Apparently a lot of tunneling experts don't think it can be done. And if it can the time and cost involved could never justify it. But that's not the point. It's about the agents, no bid contracts and planning committees that will laugh all the way to the bank before this nonsense gets shitcanned. Oh and of course it will be mostly non electrified so it won't be much faster than Amtrak and at these costs there's no chance in hell of it being cheaper than the alternatives or having anything close to sustainable ridership. If they were interested in doing this intelligently they would have built one from LA to OC and SD. People might have actually used that and the route/costs could be managable.

>Jews, niggers, boomers, politicians?
yes

What are negroes?

Because the ticket is probably going to cost as much as a first class plane ticket.

Japan doesn't have niggers

Attached: nigs.png (1024x776, 565K)

Do you love gook cock, or something?

Fuck up, you spastic nigger cunt.

Maybe it's because our country is massive, fucking retard. It's not economical.

Because public transit means being around niggers and degenerates and no one wants to be around that shit in America which is why we love driving ourselves

>Besides, rail is not as efficient as air travel
Rail is quite efficient for transporting freight, which is what nearly all of our railways are used for

Meanwhile, pic is how you say "train" in Kangarooistani.

Attached: trainaus.jpg (600x400, 78K)

If you built a high speed rail system that connected the 300 largest cities in the US (a massive undertaking that requires trillions of dollars in rail and infrastructure) you'd still only be serving about 30% of the US population.

freeways were a mistake

doesn't a bigger country make it more economical, not less?

oil company wants your shekles. having a more efficient public transportation system is a detriment to this.

The only mistake was not building bypasses around the outskirts of every major interstate hub to cut down on congestion.

Getting through cities like Atlanta, Birmingham, and Nashville is an absolute fucking nightmare, but they've each got three major interstates going RIGHT through the middle of the downtown areas of each so it's unavoidable.

Indeed, USA is soon Brazil tire if not already

Not at all. Its I'm practical at every turn because we are so spread out. The highways work because people can decide to take any route. Trains dont have that luxury. Imagine New York to LA. Which cities are you gonna go through? What about the ones you miss? Some of the most practical ones like Houston, Miami, Dallas, Tampa, Nashville are all far enough from each other that it would cost billions just to account for that. Who is honestly going to drive four hours to get on a train then rent a car at their destination when a plane would handle this issue for less time and money.

How the mighty have fallen.

Because everyone not from NYC has a fucking car (except for the ultra poor/felons fresh out of prison) and America has a fantastic Interstate highway system

and they made sure we would never revert back to pedestrian and public transport by making small town and urban life nigh impossible, the former with international capitalism and the latter with shitskins. whites are effectively trapped in suburban zones, which are neither self-sufficient nor cultured, neither socially organic nor worth preserving for posterity. in short, worker's barracks for wageslaves. how cruelly ironic, that boomers considered cars to be emblematic of personal freedom

wtf are you talking about? nuclear energy and high speed trains combo are much more efficient than car travel

Redpilled, and MAGAtards will cry about it.

How many niggers are in Japan?

>It's not cost/effective for big countries
Just how?

Just think of the sheer land cost it would take to build a train anywhere. Not to mention crossing state lines. Different tax zones. How many lines are you going to run? Think of Houston to chicago. How many stops on the way? How many people dont want to stop? Is running through Dallas or Nashville or saint Louis the most practical? What about other major hubs? How many lines will that take? How many sublines connecting to the major railway? Do you understand the trillions you will be spending before a single rail is set on the ground?.

It might work for Russia but not us. Look up all major urban centers in the US. It would never be better than planes.look at my other posts.

I give you 15 years and your congress will be like this

youtube.com/watch?v=7OXatd6Dc-8

two-way tracks occupy less space than a typical 4-lane road and there are still numerous vacant rights-of-way for rail that were ripped up a few decades ago. but nunnadis matters if the freeway-suburb system is perpetuated and, of course, if diversity is not curtailed. infrastructure and finances have NEVER been the issue -- they weren't shy or slow about aggressively utilizing eminent domain in the 50's to build freeways

Land costs arount the major cities is the sole real problem, everything else is irrelevant.

It still would be the greatest travel project in the history of the planet. People scoff at Chinas one road but that is peanuts compared to this.

It would never be practical unless trillions are thrown into the furnace. There will be several hundred mile plus stretches where people live next to a railway yet have to drive hours to access it.

Cute af mang I tell you hwhat I bet he's giving it to her good and by that smile you can tell she enjoys it

Meh. Not based in real life. Depending on how affordable it is, you'd have people driving to those big cities to use the train the same way they drive 3-4 hours to get to a large air hub like Buffalo and LAX etc.

it wouldn't work now mainly because of sprawl. trains worked beautifully in the prewar era because of higher density. transcontinental/interstate trains connected to local commuter trains that connected to streetcars. higher density areas and a lack of peripheral suburbs to flee to also prompt people to actually take initiative to prevent deterioration of the city/town. you have much more at stake, and you are naturally much more involved in the community simply by being physically closer to each other. part of the problem with white cities going to shit is that nobody want to physically stop nonwhites from taking over, james lafond talks about this. the system also prevents whites from protecting their territory and encourages them to go to the burbs and be good little commuter wageslaves.

>There will be several hundred mile plus stretches where people live next to a railway yet have to drive hours to access it.
You're mising the point of high speed rail systems.

They're needed to provide fast and comfortable travel between densley populated areas. It's a moving hotel with your own room.

in short america is not a serious country, otherwise this conversation would not be happening

they are also a better alternative to short-distance planes, especially in modern america. no tsa checkpoints, drastically fewer weather delays/cancellations, greater frequency, and the ability to easily connect to local train networks at the destination

If you put HSR from Boston to Washington to Chicago, it can work. But your webm perfectly illustrates why public transportation fails in this country. Niggers ruin everything.

Japan is a civilised country.

and the USA even fucks that up

the air travel network is totally fucked, it's like E.T. the videogame
youtube.com/watch?v=Mm05sIMeRK4

because its a stupid idea for America, rails only get you so close and guess what we're already that close to where we work and there is no other good reason to travel because America is a cookie cutter country every town is exactly the same as the next one McD's, walmart, repeated from one coast to the other

Attached: 1546340761224.gif (581x327, 3.72M)

The Amtrak between and DC is an absolute trash, equivalent to what China had 20 years ago.
Using today's standards, there shouldn't even be wheel based rail to connect Boston, NYC and DC, it should be Maglev.

And I'm sure they give all sorts of fucks what an Australian tourist thinks.
Where's your trans-outback maglev?

The drive from darwin to adelade takes too fucking long for my personal liking, get on it ya poof

>anti semitism spiked
>let's build train network
Hmm, you wonder why we don't allow it?

USA NUMBER ONE WE NEED A WALL NOT TRAINS

Riding a train is for poorfags.

After WW2 the japs were prevented from having a standing army so they put all the funding into tech

You have nothing to worry about, we're still years from maglev boxcars.

Because the people are corrupt, like the Democrats that promised to have a high speed rail up and running last year, but it's not done and billions of dollars have gone into the project.

Ticket prices are comparable to planes, but it is far more comfortable and runs on time.

You've got bigger problems to contend with than just shitty infrastructure my moose fucking friend.

Cost to maintain flight - airplanes, airports, fuel, maintenance on the 2

Cost to maintain HSR - trains, terminals, 1000s of miles of track with tight tolerances getting messed up all the time, electrical along those 1000s of miles, maintenance on all the above.

For aircraft you need only build point infrastructure you do not have to physically connect each point to another

*Ahem*

It only seems cheap because of the sheer volume of flights.
Rail infractructure and rolling stock is much cheaper to mantain, with far, far less reagulations.

All mentioned is at fault, the population too for being so gullible.

No it actually is. It doesn't generate profit on its own but they boost GDP growth with which it pays for itself

corruption and greed my boy.

That's what 3-digit interstates were built for. But then everyone decided to build right next to them, so now the bypasses are just as congested as the highways that go right through the heart of a city.

Because taxpayers paid to build it in other countries.

Because Japan doesn't have shit like this happen

It's because of suburban sprawl and white flight. Whites couldn't live next to a single black person, so they decided to move out to a suburban shithole where you must have $350k to get in. It's totally not racist btw, and they always pick 100% white neighbors.
