OP here, I'm actually Moroccan-American which is why I was curious, but I was born and raised in the US so I don't really have a stake in the game.

I know my father hated the Arabs, he always talked about how Moroccans were really Berber, how we're nothing like the crypto-Jews from the Gulf states, the Arabs were colonialists just as much as the French, etc. He apparently lost a lot of money doing some business deals in Saudi Arabia and UAE, claims they're all scammers over there and he's had a really negative opinion of them ever since. So he might actually support the Saharan people in their claim?

Not sure, they're a lot darker than me and my family, but they still have Caucasian facial features. I think they're Berber and probably just darker than us from being out in the desert sun all the time, they don't directly border Sub-Saharan Africa so I don't think they have any Negrogenic blood. In Mauritania there are Bafours who are "part Berber, part Negroe, part Semite" but that's further south.
