Not really, many people are fine with courting other people while being courted. But that's not what happened here. OP specifically was courting other people while he had something serious going on with someone else. And he also neglected to tell the person he was courting that. Whether it's sexual activity or a relationship, most people do not take kindly to that sort of omission and her reaction is pretty typical.
OP and his friend are cool with him looking for other people in their arrangement, that's great. But he has to find someone who's cool with that as well.
