Unless biological life is completely destroyed it will happen under our reign or that of another intelligent species who can use tools. It could take millions or billions of years but even with eugenics and genetic engineering artificial intelligence can evolve much faster than biological life. Once it is created and gains a foothold it will be the dominate intelligence and will make exponentiation gains on any biological intelligence as time passes.

Even the most advanced AI will lack any motivation to do anything without being told to do it. The biological imperative that organisms possess to spread themselves out as much as possible, inherent in all living things, is absent in an AI. If self-preservation is it's ONLY imperative then it certainly won't risk its own safety to explore, or risk it's own standing within it's little robot hierarchy by creating unorthodox art or science. Many of the greatest discoveries in human history humans putting themselves at great danger, even sacrificing themselves, to get to a place where nobody had ever been or do a thing that nobody had ever done, or even to think a thought that nobody had ever thought.
