Paul was a Roman jew (named Saul) who worked as a tax collector for the roman government and helped oppress Christians. God got sick of his shit and sent an Angel to pay him a visit and tell him to stop being a dick to his followers. That's when Saul learned that "oh fuck the Christians are right", changed his name to Paul, and began evangelizing.
